Thread: Crysis: get DX10 very high features in DX9

    i finally found the time to play with the settings a little more and now i'm almost at dx10 levels. the only thing missing is object motion blur. like when you switch weapons and your hands get blurry. does anybody know how to turn that on?

    for anyone else interested i zipped my config files. just unzip them to ...\Crysis SP Demo\Game\Config\CVarGroups and then in game once more set everything to high in the options menu and press apply.

    here's a screenie with 4x4 SSAA. (notice the dense vegetation in the distance)

    That looks sweet, what kinda FPS are you getting with 4x4 SSAA then? Guess it's not very gaming friendly FPS. Can't wait to get a GPU upgrade, sux not being able to see such great IQ in motion due to GF7 lack of HDR+AA support.

    Yeah Baby I Just Dloaded The Cvars For Dx9...and Now I Have Sunbeams



    2x16x ssaa 1280x1024. certainly a performance hit of about 5-10 fps vs original dx9 high settings.
    but iq very good...dx10 like textures..evrything actually seems just that bit better in the texture department...clearer textures and better contrast.




    will these cvars work in the fullretail version?


    bloom/hdr effect.


    medium shadows

    high(dx9modded)shadows

    ...so i set shadows to medium and get some more fps



    textures are noticeably better allround eg. roof sheeting/rocks/water/ground/sandbags...allover the shop

    its about 5fps at 1280x800. 1280x is also the max resolution for 4x4. 2x2 goes all the way up to 1680x1050 and it's much faster but still unplayable.

    you mean 16x CSAA right? cuz i have like 12fps with just 2x2 at that res and 16xSSAA is 2x2 + 4xMSAA (rotated grid)

    16x af the af doesnt seem to alter fps

    i can keep frames above 20fps (minimum) with 4x msaa and 16xaf...at 1280x1024..which isnt bad (it's 'playable' but really needs another 10 fps to be good)

    how does 8800gt sli fare theteamaqua???^^

    I added these features and lost absolutely no performance at 1920x1200 no AA. Sweet..

    used to be able to do it in Half-Life DM before STEAM was even around...

    my nvidia panel looks different than that (xp)
    im using nvidia control panel global settings
    16x af
    and application controlled aa (2x or 4x)

    also tried half a dozen console commands as per your link...not working for me..the only one i tried that worked was:
    r_displayinfo_1
    which shows fps and some other stuff.

    other console commands i tried:
    r_motionblur 0 (turns off motion blur more fps)
    r_useedgeaa 1 (supposedly a more efficient ingame aa - didnt work )
    g_radialblur 0
    e_particles_thread 1 (multithreaded particle effects)

    unfortunately none of the commands worked...

    maybe they will function in the retail /patched version.

    g_godmode 1 didnt work neither

    put those under "autoexec.cfg" (make a txt file and name it "autoexec.cfg") and put it under
    C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis SP Demo\Game\Config\

    i tried system.cfg as that guy suggested, and everytime u restart the game it resets ur custom commands . also i think only r_displayinfo = 1 works in the in game console .everything else is locked

    ill try it..btw the commands dont work when put in command line shortcut.

    yes the commands show up as done in the console with the autoexec.cfg file

    the motionblur is gone
    but edgeaa doesnt do much...
    ill try edgeaa set to '2'

    mm useedgeaa does fa
    motionblur 0 doesnt improve fps.

    i made a new set of .cfg files for the retail game. i recommend setting shadows to medium and the rest to high.
    this also improves performance under vista. running the 169.09 driver i get the exact same framerate under XP and Vista x64.

    [edit] just unzip them to ...\Crysis\Game\Config\CVarGroups

    these are different settings. in my files r_TexturesStreaming is set to 2, just like it is in the dx10 settings. but i'm not sure what it does exactly

    not to be an ass or something, but so far i am lying on about 50fps with the config of KAHN @ 1680x1050 with my new OC'ed HD3870's

    Edit im going to try out AA tomorrow! but so far im happy, seeing light bugs in the night flying around.... everything is HOT!

    Was shocked on what i culd do with it. Took a screenie from a scene i liked
