Agreed, they didn't have to try and make a good value phase change but they did, and they deserve some respect for that. Besides, It's not like nothing else gets delayed

mabey the reason it was delayed so long they wanted to have them tuned to handle the load of a quad core.

I'm sure thats the reason, otherwise you wouldn't need a few years for building a phase unit. Some XS members build phase units all the time within a few weeks?

I have been impressed with the diversity of products that OCZ has and is planning on bringing to the market. They are a quality vendor and it WOULD have to be tough to find suppliers to deliver a phase unit at that price. Plus being able to handle quads will be be a challenge.

One thing in their favor for waiting is that the newest generation of quads use less voltage and put out less heat.

    for OCZ.

I remember it being mentioned there was 100 units at OCZ under evaluation some time ago. From the photos I can see atleast 36 finished units packaged on pallets which leaves me wondering how old these units are. The photo date is 10-25-07 so that in itself looks promising and there isn't dust all over the boxes either.
I sure hope they hand test every unit for function in the first couple of batches just to cover their butts before shipping to distributors.

A phase unit is meant to run for 24/7 with below zero temps. It can freeze you're mobo+cpu, but therefor you have insulation to prefend you're hardware.

It looks like they barely have enough to supply XS..nevermind th eworld....

Where do I sign up to get one? LEt's get someone here one of these units, and see what happens...until then, those are just empy boxes. I've had the cash saved for one of these since they started talking about it...

It seems OCZ has ALOT of cash as of late...lots of purchases...lots of expensive "demo" products...

I guess that what happens when you buy a stick of ram for $5.85(including pcb and all other conponents), and sell 'em for $100-$800....

I didn't want to sound like I was whining, but I'd like to see results or at least some insights to what this will bring to cpu cooling. I think a lot of the problem lies in that there are so many variables to deal with bringing a phase change to the general public. I'm glad OCZ did it though, and I really hope it turns out to be a success.
