    Cryo-Z Ready To Ship

OCZ Cryo-Z phase change units ready to ship

Overclock3D has some exclusive information regarding OCZ Technology's highly anticipated Cryo-Z phase change cooling units. According to our OCZ source, the units are packaged and ready to ship. The images that we've received confirm that this is most definitely the case.

Release details are sketchy to say the least, but we will keep you updated as more information becomes available.

I'll believe it when I see it, but the photos are very promising.

lol jeez give ocz a break, but yeah i am kinda mad at this thing delayed and delayed .... i really hope those boxes r the actual thing ...

1 thing that keeps me away from phase change is the fact that u have to coat ur board to insulate , + dielectric grease, and most manufactures dont accept RMA after u done that, so i dunno ... ill think about it, maybe i wont insulate next time ....

Perhaps they arent boxes at all, just stacks of CRYO-Z labeling protected by a cardboard sleeve

LOL, hopefully! I doubt this is really going to catch on though, now that I think about it; insulating, cost of electricity, extra heat dump into room and more it's really just a pain. Good & cheap for a benching unit though.

Damnit, stop being such a freakin brownnoser, OCZ usually makes good things, but just alike any other companies they're not perfect, and Cryo-Z hype was definantly a mistake...
OCZ didn't really hype the unit... i think 3 pictures of it got out and the hype came from forums like this... every time this thing is mentioned it results into a ten page thread. OCZ reps on the forums have been very clear that the unit was only a prototype from the begginging. Either way, insults are not neccesary ever on this forum; so OCZ bashing is over the line. At the same time we shouldn't just blindly eat whatever a company feeds us. Bottom line is be polite and look at things objectivley to make sure they are legit.

His point is that OCZ can use this unit as a loss leader; where you sell it at almost no profit to turn people on to your brand, and then you make money off of the other products you have. This is what newegg does and it's why they are so successfull. High volume products go out the door dirt cheap and those randoms you tag on get the high margins. Same thing with the new harry potter book, most book stores sell it at a loss to get kids in the store and to get kids reading to buy other books. It's simple marketing. He is not crapping on OCZ or suggesting they charge less. Just pointing out that because of high profit margins on ram they are able to offer us, a niche market, an excellent product at a low price without having to worry too much about making money... allowing them to improve customer loyalty, give a gift to the overclocking community, and now we recommend all of our non-niche friends OCZ products. A very win-win situation for all parties.

I'm not sure why you are bringing up government intervention and what not, maybe you should not look so far into it.

They should do alright, but they won't be any Cooler Express or Vapochill phase unit...

I like most of the vender reps here. They're all generally helpful. Sure they're biased. That's their job. When you threaten the prosperity of a person then they get defensive. As far as I'm concerned OCz does a great service to the overclocking community. They make a variety of products and a lot of them are great for us. Same goes for Team, Corsair, G,Skill, abit and mushkin.

I have a feeling that this unit was delayed so long because of this reason, with all the latest cpu's putting out so much heat, especially the quad of course. A unit that is cheap and can remove so much heat must have been a real challenge for ocz I think.
I also remember reading a while back that ocz where also having problems with import and shipping for these things.

I"m sure it takes some time to make such a thing. Perhaps they hit a snag in development. It's not like nothing else EVER gets set back in the tech industry.

Is the stuff that launches on time greater then the stuff that launches late?

Maybe they were made with lead paint and needed to be recalled or something?

If any OCZ people are lurking... is it likely to make it to the UK soon & for a sensible comparative price?

If it's cheaper I might just pick one up next time i'm in the US.

On the bright side, their phase change technology won't be outdated by the time they finally launch it.

compressors arent really that high tech are they?
id be surprised if compressor tech follows moores law
    thatd be sweet tho!
