No AA or AF though. I expect if those were enabled the framerate would drop to that of GTS 640 levels.

Just overclocked to 682/1705/2006 and managed 47fps average and 59fps max. That's a 6fps increase in the average from the stock clocks of 600/1500/1800 which is quite good.

    Min is 34-35fps. Perfect

    Vista x86
    Core 2 E6400@3500
    2GB@1000 CL5
    1680x1050
    No AA
    2nd loop of GPU bench
    NV v169.04

    8800 GTX
    648 core
    1512 shader
    2000 memory

    Very High 18 FPS
    High 33 FPS

Obviously Very High's only tolerable if you go prone. The difference between the two's quite staggering IMO. The depth of field and motion blur are much more subtle. The lighting and shadows look far more realistic too. Here's to hoping for a 50% increase from driver/game optimization and Vista x64.

thanks for that mate... give's me a idea of what i can expect fps wise...

My rig is similar to your's aswell except for 4gb and quad.... don't know how much difference that will make....

Yeah i'm really hoping there's a bit more optimization before it's release...

    will crysis support sli??

    cheers

W/ any luck, it'll get you some Very High.

High is very playable and I'm usually quite picky about framerates. The game isn't FEAR Combat or UT so 60 isn't really the magic number.

    Calling S939 old? Here's S462.

    Totally-not-extreme-report:

I was surprised that I could play the demo at all with:

    - AXP 2000+, 1.5 GB RAM, R9800 Pro

    - A64 X2 4000+ 65 nm, 2 GB RAM, Asus M2A-VM AMD 690G integrated graphics(!)

Yeah all settings on low, 800 x 600, and mostly under 10 FPS, especially the older one.
You don't have to tell me that this is not the way it's meant to be played . . . I know that.

Playing this demo at normal difficulty is stupid, you can just run away from most enemies without even shooting. I'm glad I played it set to Delta.

I finished tweaking the config files, and am now running at 1280x1024, 36fps(min 31 max 46) avg on my 320mb gts that I tweaked to 675/1728/999. Shader clocks have a phenomenal effect on this games performance. I'll let you guess whether my screenies are DX10 or DX9.

I had to set my texture and water settings to med, the 320mb are just not enough for high/ultra high.

    Nice shadows

    Paradise...

Sun rays filtering through the trees...

    More sun rays

Wadya mean there is no service out here?

    Dry riverbed

    I see the light...

    Dirty visor

    Nanananana...

Here is a fully maxxed DX10 SS for reference:

Although Crysis CAN look slightly better than what I have, it will not run at 30-40 fps at those settings. I think I found the sweet spot . What do you think? Plus, with final tweaks before it is released, and optimized drivers, Im pretty sure that the game will run like a dream on my system. Isn;t it funny how 1 game can turn the worlds fastest consumer graphics card obsolete overnight?

    nice hope my gtx perform's well @ 1650 x 1050 @ med setting's
i think a gtx will manage to be very playable with high settings and 2-4x aa and 8xaf... @ 1680x1050...

    i reckon you'll get 40+ fps...at least@4x8x
i saw a post in another thread and some dude was bragging about how he got 40-60 fps on an oced gtx in crysis with 4x8x @ 1920x1200.....so 1680x1050 should be a piece of pi$$ with the gtx.

    XP Pro DX9 high 1280x1024 default clock->38fps
    XP Pro DX9 high 1280x1024 OC 750/1000->43fps
i get around this with 2x8x at 1280x1024....a tad lower with 4x8x

i got antialiasing-transparency multisampling turned on....

supersampling sposed to increase quality and multisampling sposed to increase performance.

    maybe 4Q 2008 or 1Q 2009
is that when the next gen cards are due?

With an 8800GT? Doubt it. I saw what happened when someone tried that - they ended up with 7-8fps. That foliage just kills anything we have.

I'll have to play around with it in the morning. It was my understanding that those modes, which anti-alias the foliage mostly, make the game unplayable. I saw screenshots of 7-8fps but I don't know the rest of their settings.

i'm not sure but multisampling makes no difference to fps...i'm in the game now and just did it ...

um now trying supersampling (which i would think is more what yr talking about...) back in a tick

yeah i just tried turning on supersampling and fps went down by 9-10 fps

    im at 1280x1024 at high settings with 4x 8x. 35 fps max...multisampling
    & 26 fps max supersampling...

    super s.

    multi s.

    8800gt @ 690/1736/1900

and if i look up at a clear patch of sky with a few palm fronds in it i can get 56fps with 4x8x ms
in heavy foliage screens while moving..fps go down to 20-25. 4x8x ms.

gunsight focus like a camera lens...cool.

    look mum invisible

any chance for a blood patch btw? it's kinda annoying not to get that. with far cry you could add that and the ragdoll behaviour via changing some bits and pieces .. how about here? soldier of fortune 2 style
