    Q6600 B3 Overclock Session

Today I will be overclocking my Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 B3 on AIR to the soundtrack composed mostly of Black Sabbath. I will be updating this thread periodically as the day goes by and my overclocks get higher. All temperature readings will be taken using CoreTemp and stability will be tested using SuperPi 1M.

I haven't been able to get higher that 3.82ghz on air. Anything after resutled in a BSOD.

I'm not too sure as I'm at work now. I won't be home until tomorrow either. I think it do to my DS3R. It doesn't like anything over 425 with a 9x and even with 7x i can't even get close to 500 FSB. Any ideas? Where you able to have better luck past 3.8?

Why in first shot is COreTemp VID 1.1625, and after 1.325?

I have no idea. Probably because I lowered the voltage.

    What motherboard do you have?

3.85 is nice. I wonder if you get it up to 3.9?

    VID isn't current voltage.
VID is the stock voltage set by Intel.

What voltage are you pushing into the chip?

I have a Q6600 on water, and at 3700MHz @ 1.425v (which it is not stable), it reaches temps much higher than your Q6600 on air.
What were your ambient temperatures during these tests?

I'm using an ASUS P5K Deluxe WiFi, 0601 bios. At the moment 3720 MHz is the best i can squeeze from it, not entirely stable but i could run 1 SuperPI on that speed.
Gotta do a couple of more tweaks to get it working at 3825 MHz before going to 3.9 GHz hehehe (by the way, everything on air, Thermaltake BigTyphoon)

I am up to 1.56v (BIOS) at 3700MHz + and nothing above 3600MHz is Orthos stable. My ambient temperatures are around 65F. The processor is lapped and so is the IFX-14. All the temperatures you see are idle.

Tight overclocking the B3 mate! Great work. How do you like the IFX-14? It is one hell of a cooler and it challenges pretty much of the aftermarket watercooling setups. And if it is coupled with 2 140mm high flow fans, it will make wonders!

It is awesome! I am going to put two 250mm fans on it tonight
