    4.7 you want to say..:P

    or 4.00GHz on stock cooling..
When Mercedes brought their C111 to Talledega years ago and blew away the closed course record did it count? Yes..
That was a "factory" car and a "one of" that no one could buy and was never sold.
Records are records and that is a fact so get over it.

I'm going to jump in and say don't expect this from every single chip. Just because one does this doesn't mean all can (I'm sure you know, just reminding).

Metro has confirmed 4ghz at least on stock cooling, and with Intel, retail performance isn't far behind from es chips.

first conroes did 4 ghz @ air.

    retail b2 was ~3,4-3,6 @ air.

so im suer we'll see 4ghz @ air for wolfdale/yorkfield.

Wow, thats incredible. Great work! We will obviosuly see a little drop off with the regular chips but a QX9650 at 4.0+ on air is a beast.

I need to get my hands on some ES chips..

I'm pissed,I have a q6600,an e6600 and now I need to buy a 45nm beast, just because haha. Why do they need to clock so well???I mean 3.4 ghz with what I have now is plenty, but just knowing theres a new chip out that will do 4ghz drives me nuts.....I need oneeee haha

AMD is in for a huge battle indeed

there will be retails chips which are even better! but a lot of them will perform worse..

However; are we seeing diminishing returns from LN2 ("just" 6ghz) or is it just me?

    Sounds like me heh.

But I just knew Penryn would clock this great (ok well hipro's results exceeded my expectations a bit though ) and knew if I would buy Q6600 I just couldn't stand not having the nice clock Yorkie can offer. So that's why I got myself a cheap E6750 until I can pick up a York at decent price.

I just wonder what will be the max fsb with the Yorkfield, hope it's an improvment over the Kentsfield, so I could go over 5ghz with the Q9450 no prob with my SS.

    And well done Hipro.

Yea same altho I'm aircooling user but I hope max FSB will improve somewhat with Penryn since otherwise Q9450 and Q9300 will become motherboard limited for most people.
