I'm the author of that review and I'm still have doubts about my own results lol I don't really know if I did something wrong in the 690G mobos (it shouldn't as superpi times were OK), but the difference is really big.@Macci: Is this board improving mem bandwidth so much compared to 690G as shown in this review?
btw, i've recived four HD2600XT's samples today, but even with a single slot cooling solution they don't feet The screws from the back of the card make it impossible to run four cards, as u can see in this pic:
I was going to try TriFire now, but it suddenly stoped to work... and now doesn't post :S I'll try it again on monday.

Well some of us are impatient, and thanks to Gigabyte's distributors seriously jumping the gun on the release date of the board well that gives us impatient folks a good outlet indeed.Besides ill be personaly not doing anything more then Dual CF anyway as I will never own a display that could justify Quad, unless you want to donate ?
Overall it would seem that 790 is looking real good. Kinda amuseing in particular from a power consumption and heat point of view it realy does seem to spank NV/Intel's current high end chipset offerings hard .. which is kinda ironic when you look at HD2900's from that point of view.

Thanks for the reviews. I have your site in my bookmarks. Would be nice if you could make an english version too.

Tought I would give you guys an uppdate!
Been testing for 3 houres with Cold swedish air! +5C Cpu temp 11C IDLE.
My board and Cpu easly boots and compleats SuperPi 1Mb @ 225*16 with 1,6V and 2,3 Vdimm. But Can´t run Everesy memory and Latency test? What´s up with that BTW?
Any way tryd fo 22 Sec @ 3,6ghz, but it was real hard, more on WHY later!
Also uppdated my 24/7 setting.
Cpu temp is high I know, 28C ambient temp was making it hard to cool my Black Edition...
Cpu overklocking: My cpu would not run prime over 3370mhz on my older board DFI 570 Ultra or on my DFI 590 Ultra even at 1,55+ with good tems. Working on getting 3445 prime stabil know, 265*13 1,472v, 30 min stabil so far. Same cpu would not boota over 35xx mhz on my DFI boars.
A couple of things for Gigabyte to fix with a knew bios!
1:Only 2,3vdimm! What the f**k is upp with that! Need 2,5+ on a high end board like this!
2:Setting tRAS in bios does not work, Every setting turns upp as "18" in windows, no mattther what i sett in bios.
3:Setting tRC in bios does not work either, same as above.
(Use MemSet 3,3 for this!)
Ram clocking is GOOD in this board as long as you keep a couple of things in mind.
1: Don´t go over 1000mhz! (my ram easly does 1200mhz 5-5-5-15 @ 2,2)
2:Keep 1T!
3: CL3 and CL4 works best for me!

Nice :banana::banana::banana::banana: pics Lightman!
I hope we could help each other with ram settings! Many new settings for me... When You use Easy tune in win, keep an eye on V-core. 1,6 bios gave me 2,2v @ Easy tune. Glad I see it before i pressed "Go"... 2,2 Would not have been kind to my Cpu... Upp to 1,5 bios, gives acurate easy tune readings\settings.
Uppdate: Saddly Prime gave me an error shortly after i pressed "submit". Best stabil is still 3390mhz @ 1,44.

Great going guys nice to see a couple of these board running and people getting better overclocks. Nice pics as well.
It does sound like the bios needs to be refined a little. I wonder Vcore is really that far off at the 1.6v volt setting or if Easy Tune is giving a false reading. The only way to check for sure is to measure the vcore directly. Ether way, I'm sure Gigabyte will fix the problem.
Gigabytes are usually a little lame when it comes to the amount of vcore and vdimm you can give. I doubt a bios change is going to give more than the 2.3vdimm you have atm. The good thing is that Gigabytes are usually very easy to volt mod.
Too bad they're not for sale in the US, I'd love to give one of these a try.
Anyway, keep up the good work. Nice to see something new from AMD running well

Fot those of you lucky enough to have the board could ya clear something up for me that I have just thought of.
If doing dual Crossfire, can the two cards go in any of the 4 available PCI-E's or do they as the colouring would suggest work in "pairs" ? .. as I dont intend on going quad CF but do intend mid/long term going dual this would make the werid PCI-E layout a mute point for me compleatly if you could put the cards in any of the slots.
I'm finally up and running!
Funny thing I didn't needed Windows reinstall!
OK! Couple of pics for you guys before I will dive into tweaking quite scary BIOS options!
Overlay look at board+Ultra
Ultra 120 Extreme and my BallistiX are as close as they can be
A metal back plate did worked brilliantly! No PCB bending at all!
Look how perfectly southbridge heatsink fits under HD2900!

If you want 2xPCIe 16x then you must go with blue slots, if you want to use orange ones then all 4 will work as PCIe 8x. If you look closer at some of my pics you will notice that orange slots have only half of 'pins' in connector...
Right! I checked voltage and it's 1.6V real and not 2.2V shown in E-Tune. BTW outdated software and almost ruined my XP x64 when I installed it! Right now we can't hope for any BIOS updates at least till official launch of new platform. It's really a shame that some options aren't working but still I'm impress by amount of them!
On a side note this board is really stable when OCing. It allowed my to push 3570MHz stable on AIR from my CPU and also was stable at 3500MHz with only 1.5V where on MSI I needed 1.56V for same OC!
Pics and more testing will follow tomorrow!
Good night!

these HT OCs are great if they're stable. Obviously been a significant chipset limitation before.
