    Gigabyte X38-DQ6 vs DFI LP UT P35-TR2

    Here's are a few quick test(Gigabyte has a small vdroop.)
    room temp-> 22C
    CPU Cooler-> Scythe Infinity

    http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=254379

    i'm testing a DFI LP UT P35 TR-2 at the moment and it's a monster ,fast and stable
    and I decided to start a comparing ,P35 vs X38

    Test platforms :

    DFI LP UT P35 P35-TR2(0810)
    E6600 ES + Thermalright Ultra 120 extreme
    2 x 1gb Adata 8500 EE
    8800GTX(700/1080) + Thermalright HR-03 Plus
    Hitachi 40gb
    Win XP Pro SP2 untweaked
    Giga EZ 1000w

    Gigabyte X38-DQ6(F3)
    E6600 ES + Scythe Infinity
    2 x 1gb Adata 8500 EE
    8800GTX(700/1080) + Thermalright HR-03 Plus
    Hitachi 40gb
    Win XP Pro SP2 untweaked
    Giga EZ 1000w

    Futuremark
    3d01
    DFI P35 -> 72935
    Gigabyte X38 -> 73031

    3d03
    DFI P35 -> 48243
    Gigabyte X38 -> 48680

    Aquamark03
    DFI P35 (4.05ghz)-> 222.312
    Gigabyte X38 (4.05ghz)-> 220.542

    SuperPi 1m
    DFI P35 (4ghz)-> 12.844s
    Gigabyte X38 (4ghz)-> 12.781s

    SuperPi 32m
    DFI P35 (4ghz)-> 13m45.266s
    Gigabyte X38 (4ghz)-> 13m57.297s

    DFI P35 pwns Gigabyte X38?
    Gigabyte seems to be strong on Futuremark and weak for Pi32m
    DFI boot @ 520fsb(primed/air cooled)
    Gigabyte boot @ 510fsb(not tested/air cooled)
    DFI clocks a bit better and its very strong for ram tweaking

    Very nice results...

    Maybe the Gigabyte have worse Super PI results because of FSB Strap settings?
    I like the new Gigabyte motherboards since P35, but DFI looks more solid. And BIOS settings galore avaiable. I find Gigabyte BIOSes too poor.

    Did you have to raise any voltages to hit 531MHz FSB? What's your CPU max FSB?

    thanks PcCI2iminal for this comparison.. good job..
    hmmm so it seems that the new x38 chipset is little bit better in superPi 1M than the p35.. but in 32M the p35 wins.

    what about 3dmark06 are you planing to run comparison tests with it ??

    That's on 266 strap:

    Newer BIOS let's you set strap.

    Just ran 32M on 333 strap, same settings except tRD7 -> tRD8. 32M was only 5 seconds slower.

    Does it have the same results in all of the 3DMark benchmarks? How about gaming benchmarks?

    Good job. Have you tried quad on the 38? Would be interesting to see how they stack up with a quad.

    How bout setting 4GHz for reference, and tweak other settings on both boards to their limit, including memory, lower straps etc. Or you've done that already on your posts above?

    Hi

    Does GB X38 have any additional memory/NB tweaking options in bios such as fast/turbo/normal (for memory access) etc?

    in my testing you can push RAM higher and tighter than P35 boards

    actually i have had some great 32M SuperPi efficiency out of mine

    how often you do see this on a semi tweaked run
