The K9A2 Platinum comes with no less than four PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots for Quadfire (aka Double-Crossfire)
Quadfire HD2900XT. Now that would be an xtreme hit to the wallet.

Not really. Buy four 2900 Pro's, flash to XT. Tada.

They've made a few good boards in history, to name a few..

    K7N2 Delta ILSR
    K8N Neo2 Platinum
    K8N Neo4 Platinum
    K9N Platinum

And their P35 boards are real good as well. Other than that, they're kinda "meh," and that's coming from me, a huge MSI "fanboy."

MSI's boards as of late have been good. I still don't like their mobos that much, considering there are much better options out there.

I do like their ATi video cards though

It seems to me if that PCI-E 1x becomes useful anytime soon, that this board wouldn't be the choice?

    With a dual-slot card, wouldn't that one PCI-E 1x become covered?

I have never purchased an MSI before, only eVGA, ASUS, and Gigabyte.
    and, I don't think I will be.

Intel Core 2 Quad with a 45nm support motherboard == Me having minimal work when awesome Penryn comes around!

    Quad Crossfire though?
I hope it isn't all hyped up.
The hyper of the card was bad enough.
Now, a hype involving the cards use?

But, if it is done well, that would SO be awesome.

    I used to have a K7N2 DeltaII-LSR :o

MSI boards are pretty sweet. They don't seem to put the same amount of effort into some boards, compared to others they make.

If MSI can deliver something like the K8 Neo 2 Platinum again, it will be awesome.

Glad to see these becoming a reality. Not a big fan of MSI, but I'm sure others will follow soon.

notice the white molex connector by the PCIe/northbridge heatsink

Oh that's what you're talking about. It is in a bad spot.

If MSI had a better reputation, I'm sure they'd be more popular, but their reputation isn't that great amongst overclockers. Although you have to keep in mind they are one of the top providers of mobos to OEMs behind Foxconn and Asus.

Yes, the molex could have been placed better maybe along of the edge by the 8Pin EPS or by the 24 Pin Power
