Thumbs up New Infinity bios rocks !- 455fsb on orthos blend

455fsb boot up out of bios..

quite surprising for such a cheap board, a quick pencil mod to 1.85vnb and on phase it runs Orthos quite happily...

I'm gonna see how long it can hold this up

it's on phase buddy, no real way to check...

please note this is a retail board, no special review sample, only change is a pencil mod to the vnb to 1.85 volts...

Thermatake extreme spirit II nb cooler and 90mm fan at full blast nb temps are around 39 degrees on full load..

    Use Systool.
that works for reading directly from the bios when below zero.

    HI Kunaak,

board is not listed in the settings menu, do you know what monitor setting I can use??

I have some new insulation retention coming next week from Johann/jinu as the current polyfan has become recessed, so the evap contact with the cpu is not good. Let me know the monitor setting in systool for the infinity and I shall report back with running orthos test and temps in this thread at the above speeds and voltage..

    regards

    hi

board revision is A (bottom right corner of mobo)..

Brought from a retailer in the UK, no cherry pick, or review samples, I don't use them. I tried once and the company in question asked for the boards back because I did not spin the super pi ability and said the orthos was a little lower than expected. Reviewing for some companies is basically advertising. I even paid for this Conroe ES I have, all memory and psu too. No review samples I'm afraid, I don't agree with having special smaples that consumers can't touch. The E6600 is the only exception in my rig, being an ES, but some retails weeks have proven to be just as good if not better.

You can check dfi-street for my threads there containing my previous maximums, so it's the bios that's the confirmed champ here.

Only reason I post this stuff is so that some guys here who don't bench too much but still like real stable oc's can know what board provides a real good if not best peformance at the price on the 975 chipset.

Previous max on all other bios was about 385fsb (yes even on phase, on all older bios'x) with my first board, that board maxxed out at around, 450 for bootup (on this bios). Orthos at around 440 with read delay at 6. Never tried at 7 on that board.

This board read delay 6 max out at 445 and read delay 7 is hitting 455fsb as
you can see, Orthos blend stable too..

Only change over retail is the pencil modded vnb to 1.85..

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to clear up that's there's nothing special or cherry picked in my rig.

    regards
    Raja

Many dumped this board months ago. Now it seems like a great deal for the price.

    how does performance change

could this be because 1333 was finally implemented or?

    it's certainly a big jump

reminds me of bios upgrades for Asus P5B Deluxe and 400>500MHz FSB jumps

I think it's still 1066 strap... They managed the 1066 strap on the Asus Pro too at about 445, so it's certainly do-able...

let me get this orthos run out of the way, and I'll run some super pi to check...

now you've got me tempted to pick one of these back up, I was about to jump on the 680i bandwagon, I'm needing a sli board for phase though, so I'm still weary of getting another 975 board and being disappointed. lmk if it goes any higher with diff dividers, or if 455 is the max

    i'll try by all means...

Have not seen any orthos blend tests over the 450 mark on the 9 x multi on the 680i yet, people don't generally have the cooling to try it, I have seen 500x7 or so, but I recon it's not as hard on the nb as the higher multi's at the same fsb:- I'm not yet convinced that 450X8 means that 450X9 will run. I will have an Asus Striker soon, so will find out for sure...

If I can push this out further I'll let you know..

Well I'm impressed, at the price this board is king, real stable fsb..

I hope the Asus striker can beat this, otherwise i'll be feeling bad for the cash waste..
