    3.3V sens lead

is the thin orange wire coming off most 20/24 pin ATX connectors actually used by the PSU to determine the voltage on the 3.3v rail?
and if so, is that an open invitation to volt-mod it? could i stick a variable resistor in the line and overvolt the 3.3 rail, easy as that?

it seems too good to be true, so maybe i'm way off

but if that's right... what, in particular, would be over-volted by an adjustment to the 3.3v rail? i'd have thought that circuitry on the motherboard would set the correct voltages for most components, or do motherboards sometimes base their voltages on the voltage supplied by the PSU?

    cheers
