Did that for the US folks here. Incase they start thinking its an American Football game.
The game also has a diffrent name in the US asfar as i know.

    Lil background story.
The game is produced by guys that used to make Championship Manager. They went away and since then CM is worthless.
They also make a Hockey Manager if im correct and last year they got bought by Sega.
One of the reasons that makes FM so great is the huge database.
U can pretty much manage every team you want as many leagues are very detailed specialy the english leagues.

Arrgh they moved the search window to the right this annoys me. In 2006 it was on the left.

Also alot of the quicklinks that were at the bottom are now moved ot the top just below the tabs. I liked having them at the bottom having them on the top with the tabs is kind of annoying.

They moved things around and renamed a few things so i have to relearn a few things.

Checked a few things and seems this time they got the DB up to date.

yar but thats mostly cause if u come from no where the only way you can go is up.
This is no insult for American Football but American Football is a sports thats huge in the US and outside only very small and the US teams are rly pushing it ouside of the US to make it a bigger sport. So they can only go up.

Soccer on the other side is a sport thats very big in many parts of the world, Europe, South America, Asia and Africa. In north America its only a minor sport but stil many people play it there.

This always makes me laugh, the word soccer was coined by an Englishman from Oxford called Charles_Wreford-Brown, incidentally he was also captain of the England SoccerSquad in the 19th century.

Don't worry though, it annoyed me too until I found out we invented the word.

hmm a few things arent properly implemented.
Riquelme in Fm2008 loves it at Villareal.

In reality he wants nothing more then to leave there and rumored is that he can leave for 8mln.

So i was hoping they had implemented that in Fm and offered 10mln for him. And 1 day after i offer it he signs a new contract at Villareal :S.

A downside ot an up to date DB are that all transfers are alreadyd one and a player cant change club 2 times within 1 season.
So players that were huge bargaisn cause they were unwanted/needed at their team this summer and have changed team this summer cant be bought in FM.
Like Motta who could leave Barca for cheap.

    Really
I would think ping_pong/table_tennis grows faster than American Football in the world.

Yes, I feel the same way too
And I don't even see how the US's naming system makes any sense
Why do they call "American Football" as Football, if the game is very much like Rugby and it mostly involves running with a ball in your hands?! It would make much more sense if they called it American Handball instead

I'm so with you guys, how could they possibly call it football when it's played 99.9% of the time with the hands is beyond me

True, and they get their own version aswell, called Worldwide Soccer Manager 2008, a much inferior name imo.

CM1 was where I began, way back in the old days of Atari/Amiga.

American Football is just padded up rugby, we all saw how well they did in the rugby world cup when the pads came off and played a real sport

    btw, south africa to win

Actually in modern American football, many points (close to half) are scored by kicking the ball through upright goalposts, and kicking and punting the ball with the foot are the main weapons used to control field position. It's not uncommon over history for a kicker to be the highest scoring player on the roster.

In the earlier incarnations of American football, another common scoring method was the "quick kick", where a back carrying the ball would simply boot the sucker through the uprights while on the run (ala rugby). It really started out with roots in English football, as a kicking and running game, and evolved over time into the sophisticated passing attacks you see today.

Teach the Indianapolis Colts how to play rugby and see how that turns out. Rugby, meet Bob Sanders.

actually i know quite a few of the guys playing in the world cup right now and played with one of the americans and canadians (and one of the injured english for that matter) last year
whilst the proportion is pretty small they still perform pretty well.
check out the USA England game

and BTW american football is not the fastest growing sport in the world that would probably go to MMA considering its massive commercial growth over the last 2-3 years

id say check an actual rugby game.
the diffrence between American Football and Rugby is bigger then just padding.

a Quarterback would be pretty useless in Rugby.

    edit:
Also i have to say that a rugby match has a far higher pace then a American Football game. Less pauses between plays.
