Wanna try flashing your cards BIOS with an XT BIOS?

    EDIT:

http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/...ing/vidcard/34 - Guide on how to do it

    http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/9...12.070416.html - Sapphire 2900XT BIOS

Try it out, but I can't guarantee it will work. No reason why it won't, though.

funny to see such high clocks on a GPU core that -according to AMD- 'didn't run stable at 742mhz' .

another question for you Lightman : are you using 6+8 pin or just 2 x 6 pin powerconnectors ?

Hey guys. I'm gonna be compiling all the info we gather and neatly organize it here at www.nickfire.com. You can check it out, that's all I've gotten so far but I wanna fill it with lots of good 2900 Pro info soon !

Note: To curb rumors, the text under "Navigation" that says 2900 Pro to XT Guide is there just as a place holder. This isn't confirmed nor do we know if it is possible yet.

You can adjust the voltages (at least you can on XT's) in ATi Tool 0.27b2. Maybe once you flash to XT voltages will change. I don't think you can hard vmod 2900's, they use Digital PWM. You couldn't hard vmod 1900XT's either.. well you could, but it was so risky only a few top benchers did it.

Surely I will try it but not for another 3 days because I'm going away from home to build IT system for estate agent .
Hopefully Wednesday I will flash it to XT.
I also confirmed that ATITool is changing vgpu but this still is not enough to make my card stable over 870MHz ... I will investigate this better later this week.

Maybe you should edit you last post so people dont try it out!
What a shame if the lose the gfx card just because of a title/place holder!

Unless the flashing program is faulty I'm 99% sure you can flash a Pro to an XT

    512mb to 512mb and 1GB to 1GB of course

Just ordered the Sapphire 1GB from the egg myself. Can't wait for it! Recently acquired a 16:10 1920x1200 display so I went for more VRAM.

Excellent results, Lightman. I feel even more excited for my purchase and to see what mine can do!

I too am curious if he was running 6x6 or 6x8 pin...

    Evidently, he has 6x6.

It says in his other thread about this card elsewhere on the forums, it is not stated in this thread.

Great results , so the Pro clocks basicly not "worser" then a XT huh?

I am considering getting either the 512MB or the 1024MB for my second rig, just need a motherboard and GFX, + getting either a 22 or 24 inch screen. But I was thinking would the extra 50 euro = +/- 71.1723 dollars in price difference from the 1024MB over the 512MB worth it? 229 euro for the 512MB and 279 euro for the 1024MB. Any thoughts? a regular 2900XT 512MB cost here like 330-350 euros

    Yep! Nice find!

I later managed to push my rig up to 449W power consumption (giving my 5600+ 1.52V instead of 1.42v to gain extra 50MHz)

PS anyone here with HIS2900XT 512MB so I can flash same brand BIOS? Any help or hint would be appreciated! If not then I will rename my card to Sapphire...

Thanks for being the guinea pig for lack of a better term!

Sapphire has no 2900 XT 1024 so I guess I gotta use the HIS. Oh man I'm so glad these came out now just ahead of Crysis/Orange Box etc
