    Here's a little teaser....

I dropped in the forums here yesterday to see what the buzz was about quad AMD's....sadly, there isn't all that much I guess it's time to try to make some waves Mind you, this is only a pic of a pair of quads I've got here (with almost any identifying info photochopped out by me ). Note the pack date on the chips: ~ a little over one month ago. Trust me, these are the real deal....I'll post some screens when/if I ever get them to recognize correctly on my L1N64. They do, however, run fine on a few server-class boards but what fun is overclocking using registered ecc mem ?

By the way, if anybody out there has a bios which allows quads to run on the Asus L1N64, please feel free to PM me or post here...any help is appreciated Also, if you've got access to the VIP section, drop in my thread there as we've been discussing the cpu's for a bit.....

Lol....the thread isn't THAT interesting . I just suggested it since it's always easier to browse through the info in a less "impacted" setting

Great to see some real news, stephen. Can't wait til monday.

Dave Graham also has a couple barcelonas, he is testing them on 3 boards (L1N64, Tyan S2915 and Tyan S3992).
But sadly looks like the 3 are dead...

I haven't checked the link yet, but are you saying that the cpu's killed the boards? There shouldn't be any problem with the Tyan s3992, maybe with the s2915, but not the s3992. The L1n64 has issues recognizing both physical cpu's...I'm looking for a fix

Edit: Just checked the link and I still can't figure out if he's claiming the cpu's or something else killed those boards....

They're your standard, run-of-the-mill quad core amd cpu's.... We'll have to boot them to see how fast they are, but they won't be slouches as this pair is final rev. hardware

    final rev. hardware

oh my. wewt! and I just built my (randomly rebooting) system...I think I will sit this round of 'riding the bleeding edge out' for a bit. ;-)

cool to see that pic too.

Oh, forgot to add....when I say "final revision hardware", I'm not saying these cpu's are "retail" versions. I mean these procs should perform just as well as the retail/oem versions; even though this particular pair has an unusual OPN (at least one which doesn't seem to go along with AMD's past numbering nomenclature) .
