4gb on P5B Deluxe for overclocking

I havent yet, but i am going to have a go at overclocking (i have not done any since the early athlon xp)

The ram i have is Geil 2x1Gb 4-4-4-12 PC6400 and seen a few on ebay go at a reasonable rate. Only the seller advised me that 4gb may be a problem with this board if i overclock

Can anyone advise? If it will effect it i assume it would be better overclocking and sticking to 2gb than jumping to 4gb and keeping at stock speeds

I am running the following 24/7. I am not a gamer, but I do a lot of number crunching.

    ASUS P5B Deluxe (Bios 1212) Vista x64
    E6600 running at 399 x 9
    4x1GB G.Skill 6400 HZ (1:1) 4-4-4-12
    Sapphire X1950 Pro 512MB (621:1592)
    PCI Express Frequency: 101
    vMem: 2.05
    vCore: 1.5125 (1.50 actual) I am testing 1.50 (1.48 actual)
    vFSB: 1.40
    vMCH: 1.45
    vSB: 1.50
    vICH: Auto

I have everything enabled in the Bios under 'Advanced'/'CPU Configuration' except 'Max Cupid Value Limit.'

I wish I would have bought higher Mhz memory as I am only able to boot up to around 3.8 Ghz...425 x 9 and 475 x 8 but I am unstable.
I have improved my cooling, so I may decide to increase my vCore, but I am afraid I might permanently damage the chip.

    HAPPY MOTORING

hmmmm, i tried overclocking last night, i left all voltages & ram settings to auto and tried 333 fsb and it wouldnt boot. im technically new to overclocking as i havent looked at the scene since early athlon xp's. i feel i should try overclocking before investing in another 2gb. would be nice to achieve your overclocking results though - thats something for nothing

Set your vCore to 1.30 and your vMem at your stock voltage, probably 2.0 and leave it on DDR533 (1:1) for now. Everything else on auto. It should post at 333FSB. You then be able to reduce the vCore a little by experimenting. Turn off 'CIE Support' and 'Speedstep' for now. Go the ASUS Support......http://vip.asus.com/forum/topic.aspx...en-us......and some of your questions will be answered.
