My Swiftech GTZ water block is stuck to my Mobo! Please help

I was cleaning out my loop and reinstalling the Swiftech GTZ water block, and when tightening one of the screws, it broke into two (right screw):

So I loosened the other screws to find out that 2 out of the 3 also moved the nut at the bottom of the backplate (top two):

I cannot get the other 2 screws off! Is that because the pressure shifted when the one screw broke? Has anyone got an ideas of how to get the remaining 2 screws off? I have tried holding the nut with some pliers but that didn't work.

Swiftech are kindly sending me a replacement backplate / screws, but I need to get the old one off first.

Hold the backplate nuts with any tool you have. Then unscrew the block.

If you already tried holding the nut, then I would say the screws are prolly stripped due to the out balance, maybe carefully try the screws??

put a tiny bit of wd-30 on the screws...

Then use needle nose to try to grip them.

    Then unscrew.

if worse comes to worse, you will need to cut that top head, and then slide the block out.

DO NOT CUT THE BACKPLATE OR THE BOARD.

Trust me, ud rather replace the GTZ on a opps then have to get a new board entirely.

The back-plate is merely held onto the motherboard by 4 stickers. Simply pull on one of the legs of back plate firmly and the whole back-plate will come off.

Gabe should look at this again tomorrow. He made a quick post and didn't understand the issue. Busy man. Yea, the fine threads are troubelsome. I got the same block. I ohh so carefully took my time, threaded the block screws all the way and got a feeling for how they work before it got within 5 feet of my mobo. My threads went fine. I dunno how you could of tightened it that much to break the screw. There is a limit to mechanical force vs common sense.

Sorry, but wow, oops, you'll get it fixed.

I don't have a GTZ so I can't speak from experience, but the pictures make it look as if there's a little bit of screw thread sticking out past the nuts (on the backplate side)?

If that's the case, try 2 sets of pliers/grips - one on the screw thread itself to steady it, and another to work the nut around and up a bit.

I tried holding the screw and nut with 2 pilers and I could not get it to budge. This block is meant to tighten up to a point as it has Screw Limiting Steps, I have no idea why it broke this time as I tightened each screw a little bit at a time. I will give it another go tomorrow.

Just to update, I finally managed to get it off my using some different pliers. Once I had managed to loosen it, it came of pretty easily. Got some replacement screws free from Swiftech and fitted the block back on. Just need to put it all together again and leek test.
