    I see the latest recommended version of 6.12.34 was back in Sept; I assume they are working on the 7.** version now to be the next standard.

    Indeed. 6.13.x was already a new, completely rewritten branch. After a few releases they've renamed it to 7.x.x.

    If you're running Linux the 6.12 series and newer have MUCH better benchmarks. Don't know about windows or mac versions. They also have better scheduling to handle mixed CPU/GPU workloads, apparently.
