Well there are a fair number of people willing to buy based on brand and bling alone. OCZ? Good. Bling? Better. Performance not justifying the price when compared to reference heatsinks? AWESOME.

Makes sense, the infinity is bigger and has more heatpipes so it's no wonder why that dominated it

its not just about how many heatpipes you have, theres alot more to an effective heatsink then just large amounts of heatpipes, the vindicator seems to fail in airflow and fin density at most, and since it is identical to the ninja, the ninja also fails in the same area.

These coolers look so much alike that it reminds me of store brand products in the grocery store placed next to the original brand products. OCZ you can do better than that.

    Alright guys be nice.......

This is OBVIOUSLY not for your here at XS. This is for the average Joe that wants to cool his wife's or grandma's computer quietly. You don't like, you don't buy. OK?

The Vindicator will be much better and we still have more to come.

Every company sells "lesser" products. I don't see anyone complaining about value RAM. Do you think the top end stuff sells all that well? Less expensive products move allot faster and put money in the bank.

There's a big difference between lesser, and rebadged .

Andy, every single sink that has come from OCZ has been effective garbage. To even call these lessers would be to assert that they have greaters. And to say they're cheap? I bet you, that for a few bucks less than a similarly rebadged, and much less colorfully packaged sink, you can walk away with something similar.

DEVELOP YOUR OWN SINKS, if you want the respect of XS, and clockers alike...

    200w capacity?

That makes the 400w of the nano tube carbon cooler look bad. Any news on that one Andy?

Such as fuss over some inexpensive cooler! tsk, tsk

Have you ever walked into a Frys store? They also sell bare CPU's and I have seen many "noobs" with beer bellies, high on at least a six pack choose one and then get sold some flashy heatsink to go with it. These guys don't care about 5c temp differences, or about how original the design is. They just need a cooler on a budget. We help these guys everyday on our support forums.

Look guys, I don't know how much "originality" much expect in the price range that this will sell for. I find it funny how you keep naming off these different companies that all market designs that are nearly identical; was it the OEM'S design in the first place, hmmm? Ever been to a trade show and walked the back isles? Yes, "re-branding" happens.

What company do you know of that simply markets top of line, "new and original" high end designs, aimed strictly at the overclocker/enthusiast, with high end pricing, that has the sales and growth that OCZ has?

OCZ has gone definitely mainstream with many of it's products. That is a marketing strategy that has paid off well. Yes we are in this business to make $$$ and most of it comes from mainstream goods. BUT, we have not lost sight of you hard core dudes and we are working on new products just or you. Just hang in and please ignore what you aren't interested in. I doubt you would spend hours picking apart the Korean made Chevy's when you are shopping for a Corvette.

We care about all of you at XS or I wouldn't be here or bother trying to explain things. You guys are very important to us at OCZ. You helped get us started in this business and we won't forget that. I notice that few reps post here any more, yet we remain. You are definitely a "tough crowd".

    Peace!

I'm going to say that people have been a bit harsh on OCz lately. OK yes some of their stuff has been gimmicky, but if you don't want it don't buy it. I've seen other clones pop up and noone even gave them the same thought as this.

on the other hand this could just be a cry from the people here stating they want OCz to concentrate solely on US as they did in the past. Unfortunately that's not wise when it comes to staying in business.

Think about it this way, for each dollar they profit in other areas, a bit will trickle up to us in the form of R&D and product development.

lol andy i feel bad, i posted this thinking that people would be interested, instead they lined up the OCZ marketing and product department in front of the firing squad

People dont diss it until you own it, i dont have one yet for performance comparisons, if it performs well then why complain? I see no reason why OCZ shouldnt be able to have their own version of the cooler that many other companys are selling. Countless people have used the ACFreezer7 and countless people have liked it, sure, its marketing, and monetary gain on OCZ's part to rebadge it and resell it, but thats business people, lets stop denying ourselves of the facts we know. I will remind you that OCZ is supposed to have several new innovative products in the works such as the Hydrojet and Cryo-Z, so you maybe eating some of these words you guys are posting.

Haha, don't feel bad. You and the xlink are right on the money.

Here a few points about our version of this cooler:

We have a unique to OCZ fin profile that is designed not to interfere with surrounding components and the VRM area.

We have a special skeleton fan cage design.

We have an all in one mounting solution, able to adapt and mount to varying sockets, while many including the Arctic Cooling solution require different heatsink versions.

Don't see anything for you to feel bad about. A good portion of the posts here take the same direction as the one's in this thread have.

It seems as if quite a few people when stepping through the XS door are more then willing to exchange common sense and relevancy for the opportunity to post regardless of how foolish it makes them look.

Its only because i posted it, and you guys are slaughtering the thing the level of criticism being expressed here should be held until the performance numbers are layed out before the people. If and when i do get one of these in for review, if it fails the tests for the area it is designed, then by all means, rip it apart at the seams, but until that time, i dont think everyone should be snapping as harshly as they are, however i have done that in the past.

Pre judge all you like people, if the thing works, and people buy it, its a win win situation for OCZ. Express your opinion but at least get some hard facts to support it.
