OCZ Technology Unveils the "Vanquisher" CPU Cooler

Just got this in from OCZ...

Sunnyvale, CA—August 30, 2007—OCZ Technology Group, Inc. a worldwide leader in innovative, ultra-high performance and high reliability memory and computer components, today announced the OCZ Vanquisher CPU cooler, a much-anticipated expansion of their cooling product line. Using a highly efficient and compact design, the Vanquisher is an enthusiast-grade thermal solution for the latest high performance processors. Catering to the needs of gamers and enthusiasts, the Vanquisher will become an integral addition to any extreme-performance gaming rig.

The OCZ Vanquisher aggressively cools your CPU thanks to a pure copper base plate and three copper heat pipes that rapidly transfer heat away from the processor up to the dense, aluminum fin array where the thermal load is quickly dissipated by the included 92mm fan. The efficient heatpipe design moves so much heat that the fin array is able to transfer up to 200 Watts. The Vanquisher also utilizes a unique low speed fan mounted with rubber connectors to effectively
decrease vibration and noise, ensuring minimal distractions at your workstation.

“The performance of OCZ Vanquisher is not compromised due to its compact size,” states Jacky Huang, VP of Product Management, OCZ Technology. “Instead, it reduces the CPU temperature more effectively than many larger coolers in the market. As a bonus, its compact form factor allows it to fit in even most crowded environments and cases.”

    umm...... ?

Looks like a relabeled Sunbeam. Even the fan grill is the same. Just has some caps over the ends of the heatpipes.

Yeah, it's Arctic Cooling Freezer 7. Sunbeam just buys and rebrands (or vice versa), looks like OCZ is doing the same.

Looks of high quality but nothing innovative. Like already been said above, AC has had the Freezer for years which is actually a decent air cooler.

Damn. And here, I was hoping that 'Vanquisher' was going to be the selling name for their Hydrojet cooler, meaning that it was closer to being released. And capable of handling "up to 200 watts"? Honestly, if your CPU is putting out less than that, there's a thousand excellent coolers out there already that will keep your temps acceptable.

    ...the ACF7, for example.

yeah...umm...the vanquisher seems to be a mockup of the artic cooling freezer 7 pro/64, thermaltake's variation and sunbeamtech's variation. On the bright side the Vindicator looks pretty good (though eerily a lot like the scythe ninja...)

The vindicator actually performed poorly, as you will see in the upcoming heatsink showdown im working on in the air cooling thread.

Doesn't surprise me, I've never thought of ocz as top of the line, more as cheapo hold over, though they have occasionally came out with some good products

Wasn't the Vindicator a worse performer than the Infinity because of its lower fin density?

The vindicator also has fewer heatpipes and much less fin surface area than the inifinity as well.

I believe you mean ninja, the infinity is a far superior product

in all my testing the vindicator and ninja failed equally, the infinity was the best performer out of the 3 scythe products, ninja/infinity/mine however it wasnt by much at all.

I personally want to see how the hydrojet performs, or at least a few cryos in stock, didn't the ocz rep say they've shipped quite a few to the US already?

Does OCZ actually make money on heatsinks? They seem to take an "oldie but goodie," add funky colors, chrome, and their logo to it and price it $10 higher. (Copied ninja, and now the sunbeam/arctic cooler).
