Breaker genius , I need your help

I'm on the 10 days vacation .. and been spent the last 3 days to figure out how I can add another quad & my breaker dont trip. Still hasnt able to do that yet .. I might have to move. Now if someone here is good at electronic & can help me out with the breaker issue then I'll be able to contain with farmer Bob and olympic.Otherwise I'll have to borrow some of the tire track remover stuff from Dave.

ok just to give you an idea to help

    I have a 50A and a 40A outside my apartment

I know that the 50A is going into my living room, computer room & bed room.
The 40A is going into my kitchen.

I have an 12,000BTU portable AC plug in one of the jack that go to the 50A
2Quads, 2 Pentium D are plugging in another jack that also go to the 50A
1Quad, 1C2D and a laptop also go to the 50A in another jack

1Quad, 1C2D and Pentium D plugged in a jack that go to the 40A

I used to have all my pc plugged in the jacks that go to the 50A but it kept tripping when my son turn on the TV .. so I went with the configuration above and the 50A stop tripping .. but now .. every once in a while (1day -2days) .. the 40A is going to trip .. danngg .. I dont know what to do now ..

Unplug one of the pentium D's..performance for elec usage it's poor..
You won't lose much and the draw being removed may solve your problem.

Is your water heater and kitchen stove electric???

You have 90 amp capacity, and should be able to run a big farm.

My house draws 70 amps with 46 computers, waterpump, water heater, stove, microwave, tv, etc. My only difference is that I have multiple breakers instead of only two. I only have a 100 amp service which you also probably have.

I don't see where the breaker should trip with the load you have.

You say that you have a 50a and a 40a main breakers feeding all your circuits from two seperate panels?

I need more information to help. If those are "Main" breakers that feed "X number" of sub circuits then if they are pulling more than there rated amperage the main will trip. It is also about wire size to each sub circuit and if the loads are balanced on the "Buss Bars".

I need to know that they Are main breakers and how many sub circuits (ex. 15a, 20a breakers) that each panel holds.

I dont know man, but the damm breaker keep tripping on me. But I think what Hicks told me is true .. the breaker box is too old and it only trip during the hottest time of the day (around 4-5pm) .. so I think it has the excessive heat then trip. I can only think of one other reason is the wiring is faulty .. cuz I have one jack in my computer room that I cant use. If I try to plug anything to it , the sparks will come out like fire crackers.

Are these machines all plugged into the same outlet? If so, try to move some to a different outlet.

From your pics, it looks like you have double gang breakers in the box. When the breaker trips, do both of the tabs marked "40" trip?

Do you have an electric oven? Dishwasher?

Where I'm going with this is that you may have two phases of 40 amps to play with...It may be wired rather screwy, but we might be able to figure it out with more detail.

(And yes, I'd also like you to stay ahead of me.....You were here first.... )

Yes, when it trips I see both tap marked "40" trip. I have an electric oven and a dishwasher, but the dishwasher was never use (asians wash their dishes by hand .. lol) .. the oven is briefly use by my wife (boil some water) in the morning and basicly off for the whole day. Talked to my landlord .. he said he'll send someone down to check. Thanks Bob .. and I'll try to keep up with you .

I'm just thinking if you have 90 amps to play with and the load you described I might be wondering if one of these lines is also feeding another apartment whether intentionally or by accident..
Your just not drawing anywhere near or even close to near the load that would trip these..
I've got a 100a panel, balanced yes, BUT I can turn on an electric oven,25 cu ft fridge,micro,toaster,12K AC,6500 AC, 2 clovers, the DX, the sossaman, all the flourescent lights down here and upstairs at one time and then run the washer and drier and not trip a thing..

OK, this looks like you have mixed 220 and 120 circuits on the same breaker. Screwy, but It has been done... There's no other sub-panels inside your apartment, are there?

Try moving the machines to different outlets in the kitchen. What we're looking for is to hopefully have different phases on different outlets. This would spread the load a bit for you.

The stove is 220, so it's sucking off power from both phases. The wall outlets are not, they're 120 single phase.

    Is the AC 120VAC?

Anyway, you need them to correct the bad outlet you have, we would not want to lose a fellow cruncher, or his family, due to an electrical fire...
