Astronomers Find Huge Hole in Universe

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/space/hugeho...09.EbqS1Nhr7sF

no one can be told what the matrix is
    details in the link
The hole is nearly a billion light-years across. It is not a black hole, which is a small sphere of densely packed matter. Rather, this one is mostly devoid of stars, gas and other normal matter, and it's also strangely empty of the mysterious "dark matter" that permeates the cosmos. Other space voids have been found before, but nothing on this scale.

I think they are jumping to conclusions a bit.

Just because nothing there is giving off anything visible to our instruments does not mean that nothing is there.

To say that there is no matter or even dark matter there is foolish, they have no way of knowing.

It sounds like an interesting phenomena blown out of proportions by the media.
"Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear."

doesn't really have any meaning at least under current theories as the 'bang' as it's termed in the media actually CREATED space (ie, it's equal to say that everywhere is where the bang took place and no-where. )

Hehehe, this was a plot for an episode of Star Trek: Voyager.

There is no "center of the universe" really. All the matter in the universe is expanding away from itself at an even rate. I'm sure this is an area of space that will be explained in the next 25 years.

How can it be the edge if it's somewhere IN the universe?

edge is over 13 billion light years away, as age=size. is anyone surprised that we've found something we're completely clueless about? the only reason we haven't found more is we don't have the means of looking yet...

Maybe this is the result of a death of a black hole? (and no, I don't mean dormancy like the Milky Way's largely is)

    Cool stuff out there....

Did you look at the picture of the data indicating the hole? It is surrounded by matter, so if it's IN the universe somewhere it really can't be the edge now can it?

Yes but your referring to "edge" in 3 dimensional terms, you have to think outside the box for this kind of stuff. Its quite mind boggling if you sit and think about the concepts on how alot of this stuff works.
