Page 16 of the manual describes in 5 steps how to remove the crazy cool back plate.

My back plate is still fitted as I use a Storm block.

Loading windows atm -- the fun part starts soon!

cpu running cooler 17c motherboard 27c aux 33c "maybe its because i relapped it lol" arctic silver on everything lol
i flashed to f4 bios n it wont keep it
    bios recovery puts back f3
once overclocking fails its a pain
i cant get memory to go past 1150 my p35c would let me go up to 1250
lets see how it does with 4 sticks

It's going to be nice to see all the different kinds of X38 here in October...

But looks like Gigabyte has made what was expected of them...

    2x1GB OCZ Titanium Alpha VX2 PC-8000 CAS4 (Cellshock DDR3 1800MHz CL8 on the way) ...

    mobo seems ok

just testing a new chip with Nautilus 500

    http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=248081

it's not a bad chip with dual 8M SuperPi with 1.44v under load but so far the FSB is around 514MHz for 32M hmmm need to do some testing on P35 just to make sure the chipset isn't topping out too quick

so far the RAM doesn't seem to OC to same levels as P35 gigabyte

Probably seeing the fact that DDR2 support for the X38 is more or less a legacy inclusion on the MCH. BearlakeB (P35) was developed with both DDR2 and 3 performance in mind, while BearlakeC (x38) has many more DDR3 optimizations in place to the extent it seems that DDR2 was somewhat left to flounder.

A new board arrived here, the X38-DS5

6phase seems to be the major difference but I will take it for a spin anyway.

    6-phase gigabyte is no slouch
    i'm testing a P35-DS3P at the moment and it's a monster

best part is that they don't even have heatsinks on PWM and i'm shoving some seriousl volts into CPUs and putting out monster clocks no problems at all
