    VIA Reveals 1-Watt x86 CPU

    http://www.dailytech.com/VIA+Announc...rticle8577.htm

VIA has announced a 1-watt x86 CPU, calling it the most energy efficient x86 processor in the world. The chip runs at 500 MHz and can do so without any active cooling. During its idle state it consumes a mere 0.1 watts. The VIA Eden ULV will be mainly targeted towards industrial, commercial and ultra mobile uses and is expected to show up in embedded systems. The tiny CPU measures only 21mm x 21mm.

Sorry, in my book nothing is valid unless its in a case, and hence, a "normal" environment, by all means go nuts on cooling not a problem, but an open top setup with an OC ppl claim to be stable when in all reality inside a PC it probably won't be? Thats just unacceptable to me.

less than you'de think since you must also run a motherboard RAM and a screen.

system performance/watt is the only thing that matters and that includes the monitor

After the instalation, where windows shows the black screen with white lettering, saying please wait while windows loads for the first time, something like that....

Where as an average C2D takes around 1/2/3 minutes.

This Celly 600 LITERALLY takes 10/15

Even better get K|ingp|n to get some LN2 action going on it. make it VISTA Capable

Very nice. Should be perfect for a file/media server. Hopefully it has HD media acceleration as well.

Awesome. Too bad it won't be any use in Vista UMPCs, and that's the OS of choice for UMPCs currently.

Even Intel's ULV 900MHz in Samsung's Q1 (I believe) makes for a dreary experience on Vista, and more so when media apps are introduced.

1w.. wow. I wonder how efficient clock for clock it is compared to a Core 2 though. Now we just need this to be a drop-in to LGA775 so we can use cheap P35 boards and we are set
