    Logitech G3 or Logitech G5

My current mouse is a big POS and needs to be replaced. I've never owned a "gaming" mouse and have narrowed my decision down to the G3 or the G5. Which one would you buy and why?

I know Razer makes good mice but I'm not interested. I also do not want a wireless mouse.

I would say step down to the MX518 seeing as lasers suck as gaming mice. If you really want a laser I would go with the G5 but its all a gimmick and optical is SO much better than lasers.

friend has a G3, I would say it feels just like any normal optical mouse, but the hardware in it is premium.

however, it's nothing compared to my other friend's g7.
no one here has a g5
me? i'm still on the original logitech cordless mouse.

The MX518 sounds good to me, I completely forgot about it. It's cheaper and seems to be the recommended mouse around here.

That looks nice but I want a wired mouse. I've had a cordless in the past and I always forgot to charge it.

My computer is in my room and I like to sleep in complete darkness. The Razer mice have too many LEDs and 99.9% of the time I leave my PC on overnight.

I use a G3, I find it much the same to use as my old dell mouse that broke, but the side buttons are very useful.

If your gonna go laser then your gonna regret it especially if you've used an optical before. Go for a mx518.

Well i had a diamond back then bought a G5 and ended up going back to the diamond back cause it feels so much better, the G5 feels like a big brick to me and i think the laser is in a bad position if you use your wrist to flick the mouse around. I see that the new Razer Diamond Back is out soon with a 3g sensor but i havent seen any reviews, like people said stick to optical laser is crap

I had my razer copperhead die. So, I bought a mx518. I actually ended up returning it to exchange it for the G5. I just like the feet on it better, the mx518 seemed to be a little "grabby" to me. As for the lazer thing though, there has to be something to it being the new G9 from logitech sure isn't optical....

i think optical vs 'laser' (infrared) arguments are a crock.
i can certainly notice the difference in sensitivity between 2000dpi and 1600.

imo it comes down to what shape you like and whether the mouse buttons/wheel is smooth/easy suits your hand.

...but as far as g3 vs g5...well if the 518 is cheaper than g5 then get the 518.

the g3 looks to have a bulky shape like the ms meece.

razer..looks comfy ( a bit flatter nose than ms); so just need to see whether to get a diamondback or da....

but actually looking at the razer mouse shape...i still reckon i'll end up going back to a logitech mouse - for me it's the rounded nose shape that lets my fingers relax the 518/g5 curved shape fits my hand better...it's a very subtle difference.
