Q6600 G0 Batch: L720B013, is this any good?

Ok, got my second Q6600, this time its G0 which i suppose im one of a few in England to have one at this time, not gunna open it yet due to no rig currently built for it to go in >.<

anyhoo, just wondering if anyone has seen this batch before/is it any good?

I don't think you can correlate a particular batch with a "good" o/c'er. You'll have to plug it in and see if it's good or not.

c'mon. You know the batch code can be a good indicator of whether or not it's worth keeping or returning a chip. For a lot of us 300 bucks is a pretty big gamble. Knowing a batch is known to overclock well takes 'some' of the risk out of opening it.

There doesn't seem to be a whole lot available on that batch yet. Not anything that doesn't refer to a page that needs to be translated anyway. I would hesitate to open it myself. I have only seen one person here say that they had a 'B' Q6600 'G0' and they said it didn't overclock well.

i have to agree with grips somewhat, the A batchs have continually shown awesome results. Not that it means much, but i received a b batch a couple weeks back, and it was disappointing to say the least, I havent seen many people with them though, yours may rock who knows...you could just try it.

Well.. Freebo didnt say he would sell it on straight away if other ppl had poor results. My "point" was that too many ppl ask what they should get from whatever week of chip.

Man up and test it- get your own results and stick to them. If I said chip xxx does 3800MHz with 1.42V but someone gets nowhere near that, maybe they'll think they're doing something wrong. Maybe they're doing nothing wrong. It doesnt matter what anyone says- you get the results you get, and nothing anyone else gets will change that.

There are more or less 2 ways to go about this- ask what you should be getting (ballpark) or being confident enough in your skills to just go for it anyway and be the person who says "this chip does X at voltage Y and temps Z" Ya dont see Vince or George or Marcus, Victor, Denny, Andre asking "what should I be getting here?"

If freebo wants to make an educated guess as to whether or not to sell it straight on, that makes things slightly different, but not much.

i couldnt agree with u more, yes batch number will either get ur hopes up or down, i really dont think 100% of the people will get the same result if they got the same batch as the best overclocking chip, 25% yes 50% very unlikly.

ur exactly right when u say that one has to have a goal and what speed they are shooting for, i got my g0 coming and i am shooting for 3.6 24.7 stable.

I got this same stepping yesterday (L720B013) but have still not yet put it in my rig. Will try tonight under phase, hoping for at least 4.1 at sub zero but 4.0 will do. But have heard that A is better than B, so i'm already disapointed.

    Will post results asap.

I fired mine up last night, but had to go out. I left it priming at 3.0ghz with only 1.16v for over 9 hours!!
Runs around 45c under load (P95 Quad core version) with Swiftech w/c kit. Same voltage as my Q6600ES
B3 for 3.0Ghz, but around 10c less heat.

Will try for max. stable when i get a chance

It's not the same, I know...but some people are saying that "B" ones are not good. I think they are wrong...look:

    My Q6600 L719B runs @ 3600 with 1.39v (prime95 obviously).

Will post the pic when imageshack cooperate with me (offline to me now)

I've only seen one post alluding to the 'B' Q6600 G0's being poor......seems like that one post has been taken out of all proportion. I'm happy with my 'B' so far too
I will verify against my L726A soon

I've dismantled whole machine, will bench it today around midnight on my Asus P5K deluxe. I don't really now if given voltage was true. I could see 1.375 in bios but Cpu-z stubbornly showed 1.125 - 1.150v during load.

No no! You need to use something like SpeedFan ou Everest 4.00...The latest beta of CPU-Z shows the right vcore for some, but its not guaranteed to be right.

    Hi m8....Using P5K-DLX /Ballistix 8500 2GB kit. Nothing special at all.

Cooling with Swiftech watercooling (Apogee GT; MCR220; MCP355; 2 x Panaflo L1A fans.

It seems to me that these particular 'B' chips are fine
