What would you guys recommend a good HSF for the proc on this monster board? so far the Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme would be fitted sideways so as not to hit the NB...the Arctic Cooler needed to be modded, as well as the Scythe. Would the Zalman 9700 fit without any mods?

    Thanks all!

Mine installed fine, even facing the right way. I am not finished yet, when I have time to work on it again I will take some better pictures showing how much room there is between the Ultra 120 Extreme and the NB. It will probably be tomorrow sometime though.

OK, I thought I would take some quick pics right now before I forget. That removable mobo try is so nice on the Stacker 830, I would have never been able to get good pics without it .

Anyway, you can see how it fits, just barely, but it fits without actually touching. I can slide a piece of paper between the NB and the HS.

Interesting. I haven't mounted my 120 Extreme yet - I wanted to make sure the CPU worked before I lapped the CPU and the Extreme, so I'm using the stock heatsink now - but when I did a quick check it did look like I would have to rotate the heatsink 90 degrees. One of the heatpipes was blocked by the north bridge heatsink. I'll have to look more closely.

the heatpipe in the 3rd pic looks really close. but that is nothing that a dremel to the NB heatsink can't fix. or even removing the T portion of the heatsink, so all the fins are kinda the same height.

that is close. Hopefully it will fit fine for everyone. I really hope this isn't going to be on a per system basis for whatever reason. I am very glad to see it fits. If anyone is going to be taking pics can one take some shots to see how close it gets to the ram slots once mounted? I am very curious as to how close the ram slots it gets once a fan is mounted. I really wanted to put a 38mm thick fan on the heatsink once mounted but am unsure how far over the dimm slot it is going to be. This will make or break the ram I get. Reapers stand too high if the fan goes over too much and with lower ram the Dominator cooler stands too high which also get in the way. If anyone has had a successful or unsuccessful mount of the Ultra Extreme please do share. I would like a good consensus before I purchase.

I think those are modded. did the same thing to my fan too. heheheh but with a modding twist. made my Silverstone FM121 fan blades UV reactive.

Thank you kindly for the pics. It looks as if a 25mm fan will still allow taller dimms to be used however a 38mm thick fan will probably hang over the first green dimm socket.

I'm having trouble with buidling my new pc. Either I have a bad PSU and/or a bad stick of RAM (or 2) - going to find out for sure this Friday when I have time.

But, at least I have it running after about a week of trouble shooting.

I'll update this thread once I get settled into my new pc and get all the bugs "ironed" out.(posting from work at the moment and I'm not supposed to be doing that from here!).
