Yeah it's funny that every board that comes the first few reviewers get 600 no prob and people think 600fsb is easy on air. Then no one else gets it when it hits mainstream.

First time FSB increase. This board might hold some promise. VDIMM and CPU voltage bumped up and 5-5-5-15 set manually. All other setting at Optimized Defaults. SuperPi time sucks but FSB not bad for Optimized Defaults.

Please can you try to give Vcpu 1.2v +130 and read the voltage effective to bios??..I read 1.4v....bad...must be 1.56v

    Thx

I doubt it.. still cpu fsb wall will be a factor..

my E6750 GO ES on P5K Deluxe max 495-500FSB... on DFI LP UT P35-T2R still max is 495-500FSB

DFI LP UT P35-T2R: Max FSB E6750 G0 ES

Next is looking at MAX FSB. My E6750 on Asus P5K Deluxe maxed out at 495-500FSB with CPU PLL 1.8v voltage. I suspect this is a cpu FSB wall as it's pretty much the same on DFI LP UT P35-T2R maxing out FSB around 495-500FSB but needing CPU PLL 1.95v since next option below it was 1.75v with clockgen voltage at 3.75v. I could boot into memtest86+ v1.70 at 506FSB but it would hang in test #7 (which might be a good test for max FSB for cpus ? ).

so no better then the Gigabyte P35 DQ6? I think it is time to cancel my order i placed last night. OBR got 600FSB maybe he got a cherry.

    Hmmm

Kind of glad MotherBoardPro is still awaiting the next shipment (8/22 now)

I only wanted this board because of the incredible performance first posted.

So this board is apparently no that much better than the P5K I already have?

    What's the verdict?

Again, you're looking into FSB far too much. P35 seems like a very stable and robust chipset and most boards based on it will be able to handle high FSB untill the chip hits it's wall.

So unless you have a chip like OBR/Oskar which has a higher wall than what most boards can provide then there won't be much difference between boards.

The only difference is how well the bios' lets the end user manipulate strap performance, memory clocking. These things will show difference in synthetic benchmarks but for a 24/7 overclocker who uses their desktop for daily things such as game - probably won't.

I believe Oskar must be level better at nForce chipsets than other R&D people at other firms because the LP NF2 Ultra B and the NF3 250GB and the NF4 ranger were all top of their game boards. It seems every motherboard manufacturer is able to put out intel based boards which are good clockers.

If it ain't watercooled, I don't wanna know.

On any 965/P35 board max FSB = CPU. As far as FSB is concerned a P5B wil perfom just as good.

Agreed. If you alread own a high FSB P965 board, I seen no reason to grab a p35 board unless your running into trouble overclocking a quad core. My DFI P965 board will do 505FSB prime stable, & overclock my quads 400 X 9 or 445 X 8. With the X38 chipset coming out in a month I'm skipping p35.

Hmmm well I have cancelled my order for the DFI board. I am still pushing the P5K to it's edges and think that will hold me till X38 comes out.

    Thanks for the input--great thread

I was referring to dual core yes should have mentioned that. For quad P35 does help.

Not any P35 board can handle >600 mhz fsb ...
    Believe that , it's the fact ...

    Highest here with ES6850 475
Highest here with ES 6750 500

Spoke to DFI who had 480ish with ES6850 and 530 with retail 6850

chilling gets you FSB to 600, air does not.

I have not posted because I thought i was seeing a board issue as I was not able to reproduce the hyped 600 but in reality im seeing what normal end users will see and thats quite a bit less BUT that does not mean its slow.

Sub 50ns dead easy with next to no tweaking, GTL voltage tweaks help with FSB EVEN on dual cores so there is a lot more to do.

Well, with the extremely low sample rate at the current time we cannot determine and conclusive results. Until these boards started hitting the market from mass retailers like newegg, we won't know it's true 'mainstream' potential.

However, if you are saying you hit 500 FSB, on air, with little to no tweaking, i'm thinking that this board is going to hit 600 FSB on a lot of peoples systems with BETTER cooling, and extreme tweaking. But this is just a guess.

Well every other user on these boards has seen FSB walls, including Hipro5 who I'm more inclined to believe.

There was a good thread about FSB walls in which he contributed and there was a lot of talk about CPU PLL voltage before it became available as a bios option on premium motherboards.

If it ain't watercooled, I don't wanna know.

I hope one of you lucky owners of this board can try out the transpiper on the cpu to see if it actually helps. This is a very interesting idea from DFI if it works. Every degree counts when clocking these hot quad cores. If DFI would sell the transpiper seperately it might be interesting to see how the board behaves with it mounted on both the SB and cpu.

Has anyone has any issues with this board while setting it up, posting etc? Just curious if there is anything we should be watching out for. BTW, does the board squeal like the Dark boards do?

    Thanks.

Sorry guys, wondering as well. Anyone using a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme on this board? Any mounting issues? I am wondering how close to the dimm slots this cooler will be if using a 38mm fan on the right side of the heatsink and whether or not I will be able to mount any ram coolers without it getting in the way.

Setup is about as easy as it gets. This is loading Optimized Defaults. The only changes made was an increase of CPU and VDIMM voltage and multiplier set to 6x.

I really wish they would make a board that has all the overclocking goodies but without the gimmicks... Im sure this transpiper works but is it needed? He broake the fsb WR using a regualr heatsink so I guess the answer is not.... I hope the infinity board has all the good stuff ( solid caps, voltage options etc ) as well, especially the same mem contoller...
