disappointed but not surprised to see that DDR1 is no longer supported, as I have a 2GB set of TCCD which I had lying around only to find out that it didn't work after 3 years of non-use. can't be helped though, can't support that which no longer exists. They were great sticks back in the day. maybe the freezer trick will revive them... or maybe my mother's athlon XP system doesn't support such high grade RAM since that was the intended use. Shame though, it was such a great kit back in the day.

Also I'm in the same boat as ronan_zj in the fact I can't find the receipt or invoice for this and another set of memory I have.

Thanks for the help in advance as y'all were fantastic on a set PC2-8500s I have that ended up needing to be flashed.

I have a question about a F2-6400CL5S-2GBSK module. I upgraded my fathers T60P to a matched 4gb kit whereas it only had the one 2gb module before so I was going to put the module into an AOpen mini-PC to upgrade it from 1gb but there is a hitch, those tiny clips on the ends of the heatspreader are preventing me from installing the module but I believe if I bend them off the module will fit. I tried pushing them in but still no-go so in order to make them fit they have to go. Is there any way I can take just those little aluminum tabs off of the heatspreader without voiding the warranty or do I have to try to sell the ram and just go with something without a heat spreader? I would like the heat spreader in such a tiny machine to help dissipate a little extra heat.

By looking at the ram I don't have to actually remove the heat spreader and I think I can just bend the tabs back and they are soo thin it looks like they'd just fall off. I don't even see what the reason for these little tabs was.

    Tabs in question:

Currently playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat with Misery 2.1.1 and being miserable the entire time.

Yeah GSkill always have the best prices on the best ICs, and great RMA. Can't go wrong with GSkill! HZ series in DDR2 and DDR3 and Perfect Storm Hypers all kick ass.

    Wardozer9,

By physically altering the heat spreader, you would void your G.Skill Warranty, but if the memory does become defective, there is still a likely chance that we would have it replaced anyway. So only do it if your REALLY need to.

    To everybody else,

Thank you for your continuous support. It is very good to hear that our hard work is being felt by our customers.

    Thank you

Is there any way to get one of the Ripjaw series (specifically NewEgg product #N82E16820231307) with a standard height memory heat spreader? I'm using a Maximus III Gene motherboard and a CNPS8700 (see my pics/video in the air cooled thread) and the 8700 overhangs one of the memory slots. A standard memory memory module has about 3-4mm space between the bottom of the overhang and the top of the module. I'd rather not void my warranty if I can get some special order thing going, if not looks like I'll have to roll the dice!

If you ever remove the heat spreader, just make sure you keep it. Should you need an RMA, just return it to it's original condition, mention you are an XS member, and we will be able to exchange it.

    Only XS.

i have an RMA # for my g.skill 2200 cl7 2x2GB kit and im wondering if im supposed to just send the bad stick or the set for RMA?
the form asks under quantity (please indicate 1/2 or 1/3 if you are not returning a complete kit) and i wrote in half.but in the RMA PDF
they sent me it says not to return in complete products?also wouldnt it be better to get a new complete kit as they will be tested as
working at the rated speeds and timing as a kit.please advise me.thanks you
EDIT-just heard back from them and they said to just send the defective module, but i dont want to have two sticks not work properly
together so im going to send the kit with a note in it telling them i would like them to test the good one with the new one or just replace both.

edit-thank you g.skill for an awesome RMA experience.got my new set with in a week

I got a 4gig kit and one stick was bad from the getgo. I noticed it says damaged sticker makes the warrinty void? I got mine stuck on a pice of tape and it pulled most of the writting off the sticker but you can see that the sticker was never removed. I take it i cant RMA this stick now? Just woundering so i dont waste anyones time trying to rma the stick.

    thx perc,

I know I asked this before, but I just want to make sure this is still OK. The memory checks out just fine, but this is the modification I had to make:

You can see closest to the CPU heatsink I had to trim down the very end part of the ramsink by like 1/8" (3-4mm?) I had to remove the ramsink as to not get metal bits in the RAM itself but I made sure the adhesive was protected with tape, cleaned it thoroughly, and it reattached just fine. Thanks!

I'm not sure what to do now i don't want to waste thier time or mone till they have a look at the mem in question. here is the pic i sent them maybe you can tell me if they will accept it or not?
