    Big problem with my am2

    Hi all! My hardware is:

    cpu: Brisbane 3600 x2 am2 0,65nm
    mobo: dfi infinity ultra2 am2
    ram: 2x 1gb krv 668 kingstone
    gpu: palit 8600 sonic
    psu: Chieftec ATX-1136H 360W (20 pin, mobo 24 + 4pin 12v)

I have big problem with it. After power on computer didnt stand up. Only Power LED is flashing fast. What I already try:

    - boot on Sempron AM2 3000 (cause I was think, maybee the bios isnt up to date, and mobo cant recognize my brisbane) The same situation, camputer dont boot, no any beeps from speaker, only flashing Power Led. (man, who sold me mobo says, the bios is up to date, but after my test with sempron)

    - boot without RAM - same situation, no beeping, only power Led flashing fast.

    - boot without hdd, fdd, dvd - same situation, no beeping, only power Led flashing fast.

Offcourse I reset BIOS between all tests. Strange for me is that mobo didnt "beeping" in any situation.

My power supply is 20 pins Chieftec ATX-1136H 360W. (mobo has 24 pin psu connector). Is the way, this is the problem? I ask some people, and they says, they have similar hardware like me and they havent problems with this PSU on it.

I think I check everytking, the last, what I can check is PSU.

DFI motherboards are extremely picky with power supplies and are well known to not work right if at all with any power connections not being connected. I'd not guarantee it, but I would start with the power supply.

It is possibla, that adapter from 20 pins ATX to 24 pins BTX will help?

cause 360W Chieftec in my opinion is enought for this comp. (however in manual is writed "strongly recommended PSU 400W or greater")

edit: after hearing opinion abut this adapter, it give me nothing. The last way to check, that mobo isnt broken, is test it on stronger PSU. Tagan 430W for example.

360W may be enough to boot it, but it also would stop there! You know that other components also require power? But from gun to revolver, it can be that your mobo is broken.. or that theres a static hangup in the case.. only way to get rid of it (if it is what's causing this) is to remove the mobo completely from the case, and then remount it. The screws can actually be tightened to hard, so don't screw them on like if they were going to hold a window on to the spaceshuttle launching You tighten them until they hold, then stop

Just wait and see if he gets bothered again. If the PCB gets to much pressure on the points where they are supposed to ground these things can happen. I don't remember why, just remember that it is one of the things that can happen

I've had some hours of painstaking troublesome unexplainable crap myself
But being able to help him so fast was nothing I expected, it's not easy trying to answer someone when it can be a zillion things. You get presented with a problem that you can't even see with your own eyes. That's the nice thing with XS... mostly people with a problem presented gets more than one point of view on it, and are presented back several solutions I think, without saying it is so, that this maybe was a solution to his problem he didn't even was aware of could be a problem, and that's sweet thing to, everybody knows some, together we know LOTS!
