    As promised...

A couple other things I should mention. The NB and SB heatsinks have been removed, cleaned and AS Ceramique was applied. There is a small 50 MM fan on the NB. I have recently put a heatsink on the VRMs. My board has had the vdroop pencil mod done on it.

Just checking, the vdroop is the difference between what is set in the BIOS and what is reported in windows?

Hey Loser, I just did it:

But after ~1:40 hours it crashed one core. Anyway.. is stable enough for me

    That's Vdrop.

Why does everyone here have PCI-E set to 101MHz? Does it change anything?

And why do all of you going beyond 3.6GHz have multi set to 8x?

my 1.3125v VID chip could do an easy vaild of 4GHz at 1.45v or so, valids don't prove much in terms of stability.

As long as I can remember having PCI-e on auto is trusting the board to keep it locked to 100mhz. Forcing to 101, gives me piece of mind that the PCI-e isnt way overclocked or holding back an OC.

As for 8x. I hate changing the mult, but seeing so many people have more luck with a lower mult I figured I'd try it. Worked for me. I have issues with some of the memory dividers not working right, in some cases I cannot even post. I dropped to 8x and kept the memory at 1:1 seems to really help with stability. I think the higher FSB relaxes some of the chipset timings.

Yea pulling CPU-Z is the easy part... now make it prime stable

Ugh, Small FFTs failed after 3 mins on Core1 @462x8, 1.48v
Tuning GTLs only caused it to BSOD under Prime...

    1.36v 3.6GHz = 1.4xv 3.7GHz?

I find that especilly on my old P5K-E I would need to up the PCI-E frequency to get a stable clock at anything over 3.7ghz ish... So would run it at around 105 - 110 depending on how much over I was going... this doesnt seem to be so much of an issue on my P5Q-DLX but I run it at a locked 105mhz just in case..

Umm, another question, so its good to rasie your PCI-E frequency when overclocking?, cause i allways leave it on auto. Should I change it?

Cause wouldn't it just effect the GFX card?

BTW THX for setting me straight with the vdrop and vdroop

Just set 101 or 102 Mhz for PCI-e. No sense damaging your GPU.

Well it looks like 3.84 might be possible with BIOS 1102. Didn't let it run long though.

My other Q6600 which is now air cooled in my "wife's PC" had one weak core. I could run 3.6 @ 1.35v prime stable, but not much above that was stable. The 4th core would always fail. I could bench 3.85ish even with it. Some chips just have a weak core and no matter how much vcore you throw at it, there is nothing gonna get you stable.

Yeah, I'm suffering from the same problem here... when I had my 1.3125v VID chip I would be happy with 3.6GHz... then when I got a good chip I would hit 3.6GHz and get frustrated when anything higher would refuse to work...

Will there be anything better than Q6600 before nehalem?

For almost 1 year I've been using my Q6600. My question is will there be any 45nm quad core processors that will hit or exceed 4.0Ghz in the before theh 775 motherboards are phased out for nehalem?

Are there going to be any new 45nm quad cores released before Nehalem arrives in Q4? I want to upgrade and pass off my Q6600 to my brother before November.

Probably not... the Q9550 has a fair chance of 4GHz though.

    Cheapest on the net -
    http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?p=Q95...3568450bc1376a

$316 for Q9550 doesn't really seem worth it when the Q6600s are $180 and can do 3.6+ Ghz. I see you already have a 3.6Ghz CPU anyways.

Q9550 and Q9650 but the latter is far to expensive to be worth spending the money.

I was gonna get a Q9550 but they're still too expensive around here...

I'm thinking of hunting for a 1.2000/1.2125/1.2250 VID Q6600 and try to run it at 4Ghz for daily use instead of paying loads for a Q9550...

I'm just wondering if it's worth the effort.. Since i'm running mine at 3.6 without any probs..
