    OCPulse Heatsink Showdown

Around the beginning to mid august were gona be doing a heatsink showdown with some of the big contenders for heatsinks, as well as some of the new ones, i wanted to get some public opinion as to what kinda heatsinks you guys would like to see in that showdown. Right now i have in stock..

ULTRA ChillTEC air cooled TEC heatsink
    OCZ Vindicator
    Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX
    Thermaltake V1

and im currently trying to get my hands on ..

    Coolermaster Gemini 2
    Thermalright IFX-14
    Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme

so what other heatsinks would you guys like to see in our heatsink showdown?

    UPDATE: August 24th 2007

Just gona give you guys a quick overview of whats going on so far. Everything is going ahead as planned, i will have results and charts for both a dual core E4500 at stock and overclocked speeds as well as results and charts for a Q6600 (B3) (big thanks to ace-a-rue for providing the loaner) at both stock and overclocked speeds. As of next week towards the middle to end of the week, most of the results will be compiled. Last week i received notices from Zalman and Thermalright about a CPNS9700 and Ultima 90, however i have yet to receive the heatsinks yet, so im assuming sometime next week. This week i received 3 Scythe heatsinks from Alex Venz from petras tech shop http://www.petrastechshop.com/ and a Tuniq tower from Ace-a-rue, big thanks for that also. On september 1st i will be putting 2 orders in at the heatsink factory for a Ultra 120 extreme and HR-01 Plus and once the final results are taken with those heatsinks, you will see the charts posted here, as well as on my site, www.overclockerspulse.com

Here is the final list of heatsinks...

    Ultra ChillTEC
    OCZ Vindicator
    Thermaltake V1
    Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX
    Scythe Mine
    Scythe Infinity
    Scythe Ninja
    Xigmatek HDT-S1283
    Tuniq Tower 120
    Thermalright Ultima 90
    Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme
    Thermalright HR-01 Plus
    Zalman CPNS9700
    Coolink Silentator
Enzotech Ultra-X w/ different fan from stock (assuming i can get them to mail me out a replacement mounting kit)

Thanks again to all those who are assisting in this review. If you would like to provide support or have questions or comments, please feel free to post in this thread or email admin@ocpulse.com

    Update: August 31st 2007

Ok a few change of plans here as this comes to a close. Im only going to be doing charts for the Q6600, heres how were gona do it. All heatsinks (present and future) will be tested on the Default Speed test and included in that particular chart, out of that chart we will pick the TOP 5 heatsinks that performed and pit them against each other with the Q6600 overclocked and see how well they perform in that state. The E4500 testing has been discontinued, ive come to find that it is pretty much pointless to use that as a basis and the chip runs very cool and the testing results are almost completely scalable against the Q6600, anything that performs good on the Q6600 will perform doubly better on the dual core tests so you can use the Q6600 as the basis.

The heatsink list remains pretty much the same atm, this morning i ordered the Thermalright HR-01 Plus and Ultra 120 Extreme. I have not received any word back from Zerotherm, Coolermaster, or Thermalright (on the ultima 90 sample) as well as several other companys. Im setting it up so that in the future should they respond, or should i gather the extra budget allowance to purchase the heatsinks out of pocket, i can test them using the same parameters done here and just add them to the charts.

Stay tuned as testing should be complete, and results posted by the end of next week!

Tuniq Tower 120 is a standard for high-end air cooling. It really must be included in order for the reviews to hold any ground with high-end users.

Yup its mainly because its cheaper (compared to the other $55+ ones), comes with a fan so you dont have to buy an additional one, and its considerably smaller and lighter. Also not as popular heatsinks need love too . I use a e6550 with dreams of a mild oc (3.5ghz +) so a moderate cheap heatsink is good enough for me

It is a popular heatsink, so why not

Oh and for kicks how about an AC Freezer 7 Pro. The sub-$20 cooler.

like i said, this is only for the big contenders and new comers, i dont think a AC freezer 7 pro falls into any of those catagorys

    Seriously?

It's consistently in the top 10 for Air Cooling on just about everyone's "big list" of heatsink reviews.
    Some have it top 5.

I definitely think it needs to be in the review.

As for the contenders so far, this is what I grabbed from the thread.
I have nothing to add, but I put a star next to the items that I'm most interested in seeing compared because they have already been chosen for me.
    • ULTRA ChillTEC air cooled TEC heatsink
    • OCZ Vindicator
    • Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX*
    • Thermaltake V1*
    • Coolermaster Gemini 2
    • Thermalright IFX-14*
    • Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme*
    • Zerotherm's Butterflies*
    • Enzotech Ultra*
    • Tuniq Tower*
    • Coolermaster Hyper TX
    • Noctua NH-12F
    • Thermalright HR-01 the newer one -x or -plus
    • Thermalright Ultima-90****
    • Thermalright SI-128 SE
    • Zalman 9700*
    • Xigmatek HDT-S1283*

I thought of one more I'd like to see, especially if you do the Xigmatek.

    3R System iCEAGE cooler*
