Question Apogee GTX On a lapped CPU

Just wondering if mounting a bowed Apogee GTX on a lapped cpu would be a bad idea or not?

    Thanks

I wouldnt... you bow the Apogee GTX so you dont have to lap the CPU.

I wouldn't be so concerned about the mounting of it, rather that the gtx has an alu top instead of a cu one. Check out the threads on galvanic corrosion and how the apogee gtx uses an alu top and you'll see what I mean.

a tripled plated alu top that is to military spec, which will cause corrosion in 1/1000 i think it is safe to say. you guys are paranoid

hehe I love how every time the GTX is mentioned it turns into this... lesson learned eh Gabe? lol

Anywho... I am interested in the OP's question as well... as the D-Tek base is bowed from the get go is it a bad idea or what? It couldn't possibly hurt things could it? Even if the flatness doesn't help then removing the tin and making the IHS thinner still would... wouldnt it?

Doesn't matter, the fact that the top was made from aluminum was enough to make me, and many others, purchase the FuZion instead of the GTX.

You may not worry about it, but I have too much invested in components to risk catastrophic failure because a part used had aluminum in it.

    for some yes..

    Back on topic.

The bowed base should still help you even if you lap the IHS. The reason for this is the less than optimal mount between the IHS and core. even with a perfectly flat IHS, having the waterblock putting more pressure on the center of the processor will give you better temps.

Awesome. Was just worried about doing damage to the cpu with it being flat where as with the ihs on its convex/concave

    Thanks
