Nice batch of Micron ddr3 in at OCZ

some early tests back at the lab by the boys...looking good for the 1600EB we just released.

We shipped a kit out for independant test so more results soon Max voltage here was just over 2V...1.8 is very much a sweet spot we found already.

Well looks like this new bin hit the 1800 release point, so we will have 1600 and 1800 speeds available.

We shipped a kit to EVA2000, he will stress them up for sure as soon as the arrive.

Micron strikes again with the "Z9" chips.

Now we know why all that cheap DDR2 has been available everywhere...after these new Micron chips hit the market, none of the other stuff will have a chance.

A friend of mine at Micron did a lot of the layout work on that IC. This DDR3 IC was done by the Dallas team and not the Boise team and the Dallas team is mostly from TI memory division and have worked on memory layout for over 20 years.

So combining experience of Dallas team, 20 years of hard work, will bring us memory, which doesn't die from high voltages

Wich type of Micron chips are used?

Are memory modules single rank or double rank ? In other words there are chips only on one side of the memory module or both sides of the memory module?

    Thanks.

Yes it's my first time playing with DDR3 platform Thanks goes out to Asus for supplying the Asus Blitz Extreme and OCZ for supplying the 2GB OCZ PC3-14400 Platinum dual channel kit (Micron DDR3 IC based) and the 1KW OCZ ProXStream power supply

    System:
    • Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 L627A872
    • Swiftech G4 Storm/Thermochill 120.3/MCP655
    • Asus Blitz Extreme 0601 bios
    • 128MB Gainward FX5200 PCI
    • 2x1GB OCZ PC3-14400 Platinum - DDR3-1800 rated at 8-8-8-27 at 1.9v
    • 500GB Seagate 7200.10 SATA on SATA1 Port
    • LiteOn 165H DVD Burner
    • Sony FDD
    • 1KW OCZ ProXStream
    • WinXP Pro SP2

I've only had the system setup in the last 48 hrs so still trying to find my way on this new DDR3 platform.

Some super pi runs, all with no copy-waza/maxmem tweaks.

At stock mem speed and stock main timings of 900mhz 8-8-8-27 at 1.9v vdimm

    32M

Tighten timings to 7-6-5-18 but still at 900mhz memory frequency.

    32M
