    Air Cooling a Quad Core

Is it feasible to overclock a quad core (Q6600) with air cooling? Which would be the best heatsink and how far would I be able to OC.

Or would I HAVE to watercool?

Please point me in the right direction.

i know some people here in xs and other forums have their quad core air cooled. some of the best heatsinks around are tuniq tower, thermalright ultra-120 extreme. you dont have to go to water unless ur going for like 4ghz.

You don't "need" watercooling. You can do it on air just fine.

With either type of cooling, worry about what your ambient temperature will be. On air or water this is going to have a large effect on your temps and thus overclocks, e.g. if your ambient is 18C you will be fine for either, OC or not. If its 28C you will be hard pressed with air or water to OC well.

The new G0 stepping chips can be OCed reasonably well with air coolers such as the TT120 or Ultra-120 X.

I left the optimized files on three 3GHz P4 HTs. Ban me.
