    Tuniq Tower on P5K Deluxe

I am going to be building a pc when intel drops their prices and already have some of the hardware including a Tuniq Tower 120. I was wondering if there would be good clearance between a Tuniq Tower and the top of the northbridge heatsink.

I plan on placing a 40mm fan on the top of the northbridge heatsink (attached with string or wire through the fan screw holes and under the top heatpipe) and want to now how much clearance there would be. Would there be enough clearance for a 20mm thick fan or even a 10mm on top of the heatsink?

    Thanks, Anthony

    I have the same setup.

The NB is fine, lots of clearance. However the small MOSFETS on the edge of the MB covered by the non-heat piped heat sink does touch the small protruding portion of the Tuniq's H shaped retaining bar. I would recommend filling down that portion of the H bar. I didn't do this yet but I will the next time I'm moving things around. I've not experienced any problems even with the H bar touching that heat sink.

Otherwise it performs perfectly and has plenty of clearance.

Thanks for the reply. Are the fins of the Tuniq Tower actually over the northbridge heatsink and if they are would you say there is more than 20mm above the northbridge heatsink below the fins? How thick is the 80mm fan on your NB and is it on top of the NB. Do you have a picture of the fan on your NB heatsink.

    Thanks, Anthony

I'll take a couple of shots tonight or tomorrow morning and upload them. I have my 80mm on the side of the NB with plenty of clearance, I could have put it on top but thought that pushing the air horizontally across the fins and MB would be better, also the top is somewhat obstructed by the Heatsink design. I do believe that the Tuniq's fins do cover the some of the NB but will know for sure with the pic's.

on an aside, I just read a great article on the P5K overclocking and review here:

CPU idle is around 30c load is at 54c, the cores stay right around 48c at load.

I'm still trying to find my upper OC so I'll probably end up with more vcore to get to Orthos stable 3.4MHz which is my goal.
