It's not a mistake. They're taking $5 advances to reserve a processor for you. You still have to pay the full price.

$5 purchases a spot on the waitlist, not an actual processor. You will be billed for the remaining value of the processor once pricing is confirmed.
*edit* very misleading title btw. I suggest you change it.

Thread Title Changed to NOT be so misleading.

Tankguys honors their preorders. IMO they're the best shop around, any time I can support them I do. Prices aren't always the best, but it's a small operation, it's hard for them to compete with companies like Newegg. They really do try to cater to overclockers, and the service is top knotch.

Sorry if the program confused anyone as well

This method of pre-order is to try and avoid the major headaches we had with the Core 2 Duo pre-orders last summer... that got a bit rocky

In any case, this is a tad cumbersome, but if anyone has any questions/comments/concerns, just let me know and I'll be more than happy to help.

Any word you will be getting any more in soon? Also, where do you charge tax. No CA tax would be a winner for me

In this case, only tax on Michigan orders. In some cases, people in California, Illinois, New York, Georgia, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania get charged tax on at least part of their order... just depends on what they order, and where we have to ship it from.

These will all ship from Michigan though, so no tax unless you live here

Oh, and as for an ETA - likely early/mid August, as a conservative estimate. The G0 steppings for these won't even start shipping from Intel until mid July, so we've got to take some time to weed out the old and get only the new. Thus, it will definitely take longer to order from us than elsewhere - but at least you'll know what your getting, or you get your money back

Humm, the page says "Thermal Design Power 130 W"
I think I heard G0 stepping is to have TDP of 95w..
    Correct me if I'm wrong.

GO is a minor tweaking and refining of the making of the CPU.
so they are about 10 watts cooler, then other steppings.

so a 130 watt Q6600 would now be about 120.

95 w is the rating of dual core conroes.

Sorry to go a bit off topic but...are you saying the Q6600's give off~120w of heat? So if you were to water cool one you'd need something to dissipate atleast ~120w of heat, maybe a tad more? Just clarifying this. I'm new to this so...

Take it up with FedEx International rates are insane. USPS is at least cheaper, but it's entirely too much of a pain for us to use it, unfortunately.

Will the ones we ship be G0? Yes.

Does that necessarily mean they will ship in July? No.

The latest I've heard from Intel is that the Q6600's transition to G0 in July. However, this isn't 100% certain, and there's still the issue of acquiring them specifically, and not the B3's still hanging around.

The best we can say right now is that yes, we will ship G0's, but we can't say for sure when.
