Do these actually work and if so whats the best brand to get?

I suppose it would work a little bit, but the main noise from the fan comes from the bearings inside the fan, and the fan spinning, pushing air.
So all in all, its a bit pointless.
A lot of the noise is indeed vibration through the chassis, you are right to want to isolate the fan body from case, here these will work woinders and are the thickest on the market but cost bit more.

In my case the most sound comes from the motor itself.
But in my case i have very high powered fans.
CPU: Q6600 @ 3.6ghz G0 Week 37B
Mobo: Asus P5k Deluxe
Cooler: TRUE 120 (150cfm Delta)
2xHR-05
2xHR-09
Mem: G.Skill 4x1Gb 6400HZ
Vid: HIS 4850
HDD: 80Gb 16mb Cache Raptor
500Gb 7200.11 Seagate
PSU: Enermax Noisetaker 600w
Case: Thermaltake Armor (4x120mm 104CFM Panaflo)
3dmark06: 16k
So do I but I use a controler, no need to be running PC overclocked 24/7 to surf WWW etc, your fast fans will also be generating a lot of harmonics, a Gasket would help somewhat.
You are better off with the Ultra-Soft Fan Mounts instead because according to silentpcreview.com's AcoustiProducts Vibration Dampers article , the fan mounts absorbs more noise than the fan gaskets![]()
Yah but that review is very very old....
Here is what I just bought:

Going to use them with these fans:

What do you think?
Not really as I do see where your coming from as the screw could still touch case metal going through the hole but not true that they will have 4 tiny surface areas where as gasket is 100% surface area, thats why I mounted mines with both the gasket and the rubber plugs, I have no screws or metal to metal near each other.![]()
Jesus, or you guys could stop being do damn pedantic about noise.
Do you, or will you ever hear the fan's slight vibration against a panel? Then it's not down tighly. Or does your whole case rattle? Stop buying $30 hunks of tin then fitting them with $35 fans.
if you want silence, get quiet fans (yates?) undervolt them, and then throw the whole thing inside a thick wood cabinet (1" walls, anyone?) lined with whichever damping material you want, with small slats at the front and back for cables and air.
But please, stop supporting the pointlessness of overpriced goodies like these.
