The IP is shut down from the ISP and should no longer be a problem. This was told to me from the ISP directly this morning.

I have also contacted the Las Vegas FBI Cyber Crimes with the information and a complaint to the actions of that person.

He was running a script on several VB forums attempting to gain access to accounts.

I intend to file charges, tards who pull crap like this deserve a record with the FBI.

Exact same message 5 times in the last day.

I was getting worried, as it also happened on nvidia's forums.

Glad to see that i wasn't alone.

Exactly.... since all there forums are publicly joinable anyways. Maybe:

    -- looking for email addresses?
-- looking for stale Paypal information? (just of the top of my head)

I had my Linux gateway SSH access get bombared with login attempts from some address in Israel for 5 days in a row till I IP masked it out.

    Regards,
    Karan

    ssh si something else

as a linux user it is a challenge to crack ssh, so that person from isreal was probably training on cracking ssh

but cracking a forum username and password is very time wasting task unless he is hoping to find some nice info in saved PM

Yup, most site administrators, like me I used too when I was a site admin, intend to report any illegal activity logs with their local FBI's Cybercrime, US-CERT, or CCIPS.

SSH is a secure shell, so there is no point of cracking it. If it is cracked, you wouldn't be able to exchange encrypted information. It is called Brute Force, which it is connected with the server to attempt to login with all generated passwords.

not really, with thousands of possible combinations he would be better served trying his luck in the lottery.

It doesn't sound like any vulnerability has being exploited, more like some dumb script kiddy with too much time on his hands.

maybe he was just trying to sharpen his skills. Start with somthing that probably wouldnt get him in any trouble and then later move onto more important sites with credit info.

Why does he have to be intelligent to run scripts?
