I doubt they were aiming for "Enthusiasts" who pay more on cooling the computer than they do on the house. I think it was meant more for people who wanted to take the next logical step from watercooling without paying through the nose. How affordable it is and whether or not its worth the money has yet to be seen.

It's a product for the everyday enthusiast who wants sub-zero cooling for little money. This is a group of people we need to bring out more to be honest, there are way too many world record announcements nowadays that people have gotten desensitized by the words "world record." Sad but true.

This is an excellent product so far, let's just hope the specs lives up to the idea. Sorry if I drifted a bit.

I never actually expected this to hit the market at $300... I figured either it would be scrapped, or the price would be at least $500.

    Color me surprised, I guess.

Edit: for $300, it's in the same price range as a high-end WC kit, and even if it doesn't hit anything below zero, it would still beat it by a mile and a half. Plus, I expect to see people modding/regassing them and getting better temps.

Honestly, I can't see how M.Beier's argument makes any "sence".

Let's be realistic, I personally think VapoChills will be made for under $300. That gives you an idea of how much profit they are currently making. Once the cryo-z becomes widely available I think the price of the VapoChill will come down a lot.

I would like to know what the cryo-z has been tuned for though .

@ ownage - The INQ has already lied very badly once with the cryo-z (if you saw the other thread). They probably made that image in photoshop rofl.

M'eh, i already run my 110v Reserator on an Inverter, i'm sure i could sell this WC kit and for the money i could spend on a Pump i'd have Phase

    Guys

I will NOT post specs till i know units are shipping, the reason for this is gas may change, evaps may change and we may even decide to delay for some rreason again so its not worth me feeding you all the bullets to fire back at OCZ.

All i will say is its a SS unit featuring a Chilly designed head and it will be available in the usa first.

Gas, compressor, et al you will learn about when it ships.
Got a problem with your OCZ product....?

IMO I for one welcome this attempt,(albeit a long drawn out up and down process)I think in the long run it benefits users all the way around. Cost will fall, performance will increase. That’s just the way it works. You find out who is serious and who’s not . In the end the consumer will dictate success or failure. Just don’t see it being a participant on the Xtreme side of things working within that budget. But who knows.

You can actually build a damn good (CPU only) water cooling kit for $100-150 if you don't get carried away and plan ahead. Less if you catch sales (I remember seeing CPU blocks that were 3-4* off cascades back when cascades were the top notch blocks selling for $10 on sale). Phase change is another story though. If they build a decent phase change unit for under $300 retail, I'll be damned impressed. Good luck to them.

I want to see how Cryo-Z does compared to chilled water (a good quality chiller can be had for around $450 to cool more than just the cpu) and other competition
