Anyone try GeIL Golden Dragon Dual DDR?

the 3dgameman says it ran up to 240fsb, and alot cooler..

So my hyper-X i think is holding me back so id like to buy something that would perform better.

i was looking at ocz3700, but i havent seen anyone with decent timmings.. and its costly..

The gold stuff is only to run over ddr500 at lose timings. Dont think we will see tight timings over ddr500 for a long time, probably have to wait for ddrII

What timings and volts did the Golden Dragon run to get 240?

My hyperx will do 230 2-6-2-2 at 2.75vddr. It runs 2-5-2-2 at 228 but I never liked a tras of 5 so I run the 230. They are still sorta new, so I haven't played with looser timings to see just how high they will go yet. Yeah nothing incredible, but not bad either.

I had to RMA my PC3700 Platinum from geil (2x512). They are out of stock so they shipped me a Golden dragon with 4ns. It should arrive today and I can report back on my finding. However, I think my p4c800dlx is a bad batch and need to wait till I get new mobo saturday to fully test it if the result doesn't show promising today. (IC7). I shall report back. (its 2x512 module rated at 3700 which is what abit demonstrated 500mhz DDR on one of show... another reason I am getting IC7 actually :P)

    What's wrong with a tras of 5?
I always thought the lower the numbers, the faster it will run.

Btw, noone using the good old twinmoss anymore?

On P4C800Dlx 5 caused some problem with RAID performance on 1006 bios. They might have fixed it with newer bios but not sure. (its not a hard problem until you actually see performance difference... wierd eh?) I used to use 2-3-3-6 with my geil to get the RAID at top performance.

Please post what the Golden Dragon can do. I'm very interested since I have an IC7 also and plan to get this ram.
To be or not to be...that is the question.

not a problem really it's just the lower the tras the higher chance of corruption. I know everyone runs it but I just don't get enough of a performance increase to justify it. Plus I can run a higher clock at 6 which makes up for any incease of running 5.

Ran into exact same limitation as any of my memory on current board. There must be something fishy going on with this motherboard at the moment. I will get IC7 monday and test it out further. The Golden Dragon I got is PC3700. It looks sweet at least :P
