    Question crystal orb on NB

Is there anyone out there who has put a crystal orb on it's Northbridge?
And if so, did it make any difference compared to the stock cooler the mobo comes with?
I know there has been a thead about this in the past but couldn't find it.
In that thread someone had put it on with tyraps or something, anyone found a better way yet?

first, see if it fits. if it doesn't, use some superglue on the edge of the northbridge

better NB cooling is a must when you're maxing the FSB, especially when upping the voltage

I think folks have had ok results with the Vantec Iceberq since it's copper. Not sure if the crystal orb is that much of a step up from the stock Abit active cooling. Of course you could do what I did on my 8RDA - epoxied on a P3 HSF! Works great...the HS never even gets warm.

The Crystal orb wont really make much difference, something like the Vantec one that Brainstorm mentioned would make a difference. You could also try the zalman (just found this picture in a qucik search for ya)

and stick a 40mm fan on top of that. That would be a better cooler due to its larger surface area, it also comes with different size fittings for different boards.

I don't care for the little orbs most a POS, do like ccw and brainstorm said and you'll come out ahead of the game.

The NF2 boards have alot of room around the NB, a socket7 or socket370 HSF will fit and keep it nice and cool.

The crystal orb has a better fan than the vantec and fits fine with plastic ties. Works well for me.
