    @SaFrOuT

    I voted 1920x1440

However, 1024x768 seams like a very user-friendly default... perhaps even as a thumbnail uppper limit for all those guys with serious photographic experience to show off their talents at 1920 and higher...

Perhaps a limit on filesize could also be usefull !

I like 1024*768, not too small, but doesn't resize the page either (not to mention plenty of other forums use that size last time I checked)

I voted for 1024x768, but I have to say that thumbnails are the best way to view an article/review full of photos.

1024x768, good size and gives good picture detail.

Perhaps, ExtremeSystems Forum (vBulletin) could allow an upload of maximum (X x Y Resolution and Z MB filesize)... and resize to a maximum "hand"nail of ( x Resolution and KB filesize)... if necessary...

The links often get broken at some stage with 3rd party uploads...
It would be nice if ExtremeSystems could host most of the pics and stuff.

1152 X 864, because that's the largest size still being less than 1280 pixels on the width, so I won't have to scroll horizontally on native 1280x1024 screens.

Either 1024 x 768 or 800x600. It really gets annoying having to scroll to the right to read the rest of the page.

on my site i have an image resizer. it works very well so the poage doesnt get distorted. each user can set it in his profile to what he wants. it wont resize the actual image so a page with many large images would still take just as long to load.

I have voted for 1600x1200 just in case someone decides that one size fits all.
Actually 1600x1200 should be used for MoBo macro's and other hardware pictures and 1024x768 for the rest of them .

The problem is that you must view something before you know whether you want to view it or not... AFAIK there are no previews here

I think 1280x1024 would be nice.

I'm always a person who pressures for raising the bar.

800x600 I'm always using other portions of my desktop for other programs ie: monitoring HDTV, or system temps, outlook etc etc I don't like having to slide browser window back and forth with all apps open and 800x600 images within the browser it's not necessary. If bigger images are necessary link to them I have a highspeed connection and I'm not bothered by the load times much but with all considered even this would be faster with a standard set for all to use so I think this is a great Idea to implement.

Why dont make tumbnails in 1024*768 or 800*600 that is linked to the full sized. If a pic looks intresseting you can look to the big one by clicking, and if it doesnt you dont have to scroll through a 30000*60000 picture that doesnt bother you.

A rule on this will cause many more problems than its worth.

That's why I'm in for a guideline instead of a rule

ie 'Pics smaller than 1280x1024 are preferred. Thanks'

vBulletin has plenty of mods to handle autoresizing / thumbnailing of images within thread view, which auto converts each resized thumbnail into a clickable link to the fullsized pic in a new window. The sensible option is to head down this route.

Personally, I'm stuck at 1280 max width at work, and 1024 max width at home. I'd simply end up ignoring any thread I opened where a horizontal scrollbar appeared, or turning pics off altogether.

1024 is the best bet, but for mobo previews (for example) should be allowed any size.

1024 certainly seams like a good bet... with the option to thumbnail the really big stuff...
