Apogee GT - bad temps - ideas?

    Hi,

I have an Apogee GT here, and it is not performing up to par (at least in my opinion).

    I am testing on a Opteron 144

With my Nexxxos XP, I get idle of around 24 C (BIOS reports 21) and Load of about 35 C.

With the Apogee GT, I idle at 34 C (BIOS reports 30-32) and Load at 47 C (Coretemp)

I tried remounting, and mounting with different pressures. I am however using the DFI backplate, so I use longer screws with washers.

Where is the problem? Any ideas? Or are these temps ok for a GT?

The CPU is at 2700 MHz, 1.55V.

Did you bow it? I got about 4C lower using the larger o-ring that was included to do the "bow" on it. What are you ambiant?

No, I did not bow it... the thing is, I guess its probably the ambient temps... I compared with my Nexxos, which I used the whole winter... so ambient was like 22... now its summer, so ambient is ~29...

So, subtracting 7 C means the Apogee GT idles at 23 BIOS... load at 40 ... that sounds much better...

So it prolly is the ambient.. open to suggestions...
