I'm using both blue slots 1 & 3. The DDR speed seems to make a difference in whether or not my system will boot when I change the fsb so I'm running a lowered DDR speed with Prime95 to see if it makes a difference with crashing. Although, the vcore still seems low because at default cpu speed and voltage uguru shows 1.24 under load.

i believe the CPU Thermal is just for throttling the cpu as you approach the magical temp limit....once you reach that magical high temperature limit, the cpu shuts itself down...you see a system freeze...no more heat.

i've used 1, 2 and 3 slots...my Dominators, which i am trying to sell, had to be in slots 2 & 3 since my Panaflo fan attached to the push-me side of the Ultra-X would not allow the no. 1 slot to be occupied with a high rise heatsink like is on the Dominator.

i have found no significant difference in overclock between using dimm slot 1 or 2

The 965-s chipset was a lil tweaked to handle high fsb but performance is still very good and its just a tad slower than the Quad GT... This is Quad GT's time again at 3600mhz ( 514fsb * 7 ) 1:1, my DFI was 5 sec slower but the bench below was done by the WR holder for E6600...

Quick but random question, which GTLREF values do you guys change for a dual core? Both 0-1 and 2-3 or just one of those?

I think I answered my own question, someone please confirm

Looking at figure 3 here: http://www.thetechrepository.com/showthread.php?t=87

You can see that GTLREF 0+2 are for the 0/1 Cores while 1/3 are for the 2/3 Cores, so dual core users only need to adjust 0+2 right?

Can anyone tell me what vcore that you would get in uguru on stock speed under load? Mine shows 1.24 whether not settings like EIST are on which seems low.

i had my B3-Q6600 on the QuadGT board...so...i was limited...not like that now with the IP35 pro...i must be on the 1333 strap (using 1:1.2 FSB to memory ratio)..how else can you explain the difference in WAY higher FSB...my highest FSB on the QuadGT was 390 at 9X...410, if i jammed the vcore down its throat!

i tried all the lower multi's and it would not go any higher.

I dont exactly know how the strap works but if you went from 390 to 463fsb and I can run 1:1 as fast as my old 1066strap board then Abit and Intel did a great job .....

I just think its stupid how they associated straps to the dividers cos speedwise 400x9 2:3 ( supposedly 1066strap ) is not really faster than 514x 7 1:1 ( supposedly 1333strap ), just like how it was in the DFI965-s.... But if you try those same 2 runs in a board that switches straps after 400fsb ( P5B Dlx ) the difference in times will be big ( around 30sec )....

I wish tony or freecableguy will see this and give thier thoughts.....

Does suggest that there is a memory problem?
As was mentioned above you may need to set the voltage of your memory to the proper level.

I tried 1.9, 2.0, and 2.1 and it's rated between 1.8-9. I don't think that it booted when I tried 2.1 so I'm not sure what else I could try to set it to.

Well I got my X3220 intoday and put that guy in my board. Thing I realized running a low fsb with a high divider my ram performance level went way down.

so the question becomes Q6600 or X3220? If I'm looking to get 4 cores but not a spectacular overclock (3.2Ghz would be ok) which is the better choice?

Depends on the retailer, but I can get the Q6600 for $290 which is $10 under the X3220 pricees i've found but yes generally it is.

i think the 3220 is 105 watts while the "G0" Q6600 is only 95 watts.

Well, I'm not going to pay a premium to get a G0...I can save $10 by taking the chance on getting a B3 and won't have to wait for the retailer to get stock on G0 chips. a B3 should clock to decent levels for me.

Ive got mine (g0),just came in today, up to 3.5ghz on 1.33v after vdroop on ip-35 pro. Its hovering around 55-57C on abits uguru temp monitor. Core temp seems to crash my computer, even at stock settings..

been priming stable for a while now.

I need to work on my memory. Its gskill pc-6400 and it fails prime anywhere past like 900mhz... I have it at 2.25v, I am scared to take it higher though people are reporting 1100mhz at like 2.35v.

My link is 1:1... Any suggestions?

This board is def better then asus pk5. im happy i purchased it.

Changed out my link to 1:1.2 and am now booting at 1050 mhz ram speed up from 800, but this is at 5-5-5-12

do you think i should stick with slower ram speed like 900mhz and 4-4-4-12 or stay at what i am now?

I got this one for $296 shipped from provantage which at the time was slightly cheaper then the 6600. Im pretty get whatever one is cheaper. Ill post my top oc's with this guy when I get some time to play with it. Had to work so....

Anyways initial thoughts is that it goes to 3.2 very easy but yet to see after that. Gonna have to play the volts down a bit as the phase I am running is a unmodded mach II GT (its a good one) and dont want to really destroy it trying to runa quad maxed out.

Ok, what the first thing I need to be looking at if I can't get my system to boot after 485 fsb? Vcore is not the problem. I've got the Ip35 std and it gets flaky from 485 and impossible to boot after 498. I've got so many Ballistix sticks that I'm wondering if switching up the sticks will even make a difference. My CPU seems to do 3.88 stable (E6850) but I can't even boot at 6x500 .... Eist is diabled. My first intel system and this "strap" thing has me confused.

the only detriment is the vcore droop but it has not slowed me down to hold 3.7 Ghz with a B3 Q6600.

i could do 495@7X safely but all my voltages had to be set high except for CPU VTT....it seems that 500 FSB is pushing the limits on this board with higher end cpu's...i finally accepted 463 at 8X...still...my vcore is higher than most like to push it.
