As expected, Intel AHCI/RAID OROM 10.1.0.1008 did not function properly in RAID mode and threw a "PNP/PCI compliant BIOS not found" message.

I take it TRIM for SSD with Win7x64 is out of the question for this ole motherboard?

As far as I know TRIM should be supported. In the end the board has the ICH9R. I have 2 PCs with Intel Postville 80GB working just fine for over 1 year now without any degradation. There is also an additional software from intel called: ssd toolbox for further optimization.

    I have Intel X25m G2 80GB installed on this board, win7 64bit ultimate.

It seems to me that trim works fine.

I am trying to play around with my old Q6600 G0 (VID 1.325 bad luck).
I am currently running it at 355x9. I need Vcore = 1.5450v to get it pass 20 LinX runs. Core temperature is top at 81C on air.
    The other settings are
    DDR2 2.250v
    MCH 1.35v
    CPU VTT 1.27v
    ICH 1.15v

If I would like to bump the FSB a bit higher and using x8 instead. What voltage setting should I focus on?

And to OC the memory( 2x 2G G.SKILL and 2 x 2G Corsair), are DDR2, MCH and CPU VTT my main concerns? Can someone give a rough range of these setting that I should stay in between?

    Thank you in advance.

This are my settings for 24/7/365/3 crunching with 2x2GB (look at my signature). Vdroop is horrible on this board. The actual voltage under load is more like 1.51 V (VID:1.325). Temps for crunching einstein@home are at 60°C with aircooling.
PCIeClk could stay at 100. The voltages are quite the same for 8x450 but I haven´t seen any advantage using a higher FSB.
I wouldn´t care about linx, because the power circuit is quite lame on the board (4 phases). So everythime I start linx the pc shuts down. I use prime95 blend for 1h. When it´s fine then I don´t get any errors while crunching.

Not sure what the range would be for your Q6600, but for E8400 I have current values of:

    448x9
VCore - 1.29V (minus Vdroop, actual is 1.26-1.27V)
    DDR2 - 1.925
    MCH - 1.44
    ICHIO - 1.65
    ICH - 1.12
    CPU VTT - 1.20
    DDR2 REF - +2%
    CPU GTL REF - 63%

    Very stable at these values.

Every CPU is different. Yours has a VID of 1.23V mine of 1.32V just to run stable at default frequency. With these *old* CPUs i don´t care about voltage but temperature. As long it is below 80°C it´s fine. The only limiting factor is the current provided by the mainboard. The IP35 Pro limit seems to be arround 100A then it shuts down.

I can't get this MB to work with the OCZ vertex2, looks like someone modded the v18 bios with updated SB firmware but the link is dead, anyone know a good link to download it ?

If I would like to push the the vol, the only limitation is my cooling. I do have a TRUE but I just realized that the Nuctua fans are quiet but not powerful enough.

I really wish I can get my q6600 run at 3.4GHz with stable. It seems to me that LinX maybe be a good stress test tool for older board?

Thank you, I saw your DDR2 is not very high but you have a relative higher value for MCH. Does MCH help stablilize the CPU?

Because all my 4 memory slots are occupied, should I just push MCH or there is something else that I missed?

These G-Skill Pi sticks need less than 2.0V to o/c, thus cooler & less stress. At stock speed they run @ 1.8V. Yes, increase MCH into that range to help stabilize.

I confirm that TRIM is working fine with OCZ Vertex 2 (firmware 1.11) on this board. The Bios in my signature is needed to correctly detect the Vertex 2 with OCZ firmware v1.11. I have not tried the new OCZ firmware v1.24 but it should work. For information there is no TRIM in RAID 0 (intel limitation).

yes with IDE mode and unmodded V18 bias trim appears to be working with my new Vertex2. Performance sufferes a little with IDE but this MB is stable as a rock and I'm keeping her I hope at least another 2 years. The SSD is a decent upgrade.

    Glen,

I never tried the IDE mode with SSDs but with this board in raid mode (even with 1 SSD, no raid array) the speed is max out Write:270MB/s Read:280MB/s with Atto or Cristall Disk Mark.
I suggest that you try AHCI or RAID mode. The best option is RAID mode even with a sigle drive because you can use intel RST drivers and it is as good as AHCI performance and you can build a RAID array in the future.
To turn in raid mode you do not need to reinstall the OS, there is a registry trick (win 7) and then you switch to raid mode in the bios and the OS boot fine.

If your SSD speed is not max out it is not due to the board but to the settings, have a try with the Raid mode (even for sigle drive).

    Good luck.

I'm only getting 240/240MB/s in IDE really for what I use the computer for its fine. But if you have a link to the registry trick for Win7 I would like to try, but it seems with this mother board you have to set all your harddrives to ACHI/Raid or IDE and I have 6 harddrives hooked up to this MB all IDE and full of imprtant dataso I don't think ACHI/raid is a possibility to set it for one harddrive. I also still have to dual boot to WinXP for some programs which is on a separate harddrive. Thanks for your insight.

The mode is set for the 6 SATA ports. For windows 7 I used this link to go from IDE to Raid (without raid array), I was not able to boot the OS in AHCI mode. The dual boot might be an issue.
Anyway your speed is quite good.

For vertex 2 user, the new firmware v1.24 is working fine on this board with the modded bios from Ligushka (see my signature).

yea for a nearly 3 year old MB I'm not complaining, I haven't kept a MB this long in a decade, the thing is the incredible to keep up to snuff after all these years. Shooting for holding onto it till the next Windows comes out
