I haven't heard one way or the other, but I think it would.
I;m able to use my old Thermalright XP-90c with no problems and it uses a 'normal' 775 backplate and I don't have any clearance issues.

Is there a list boards that it won't fit, by chance? If so, that might help you get an idea.

Having some trouble installing windows on this board. I get a BSOD with the system in my sig right when i go to enter my product key, sometimes before that.

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

    Technical information:

    *** STOP: 0x00000050 (0x881098E0, 0x00000000, 0x88A0ED9D, 0x00000000)

    Any ideas?

This happens when trying to do an install? Are you running a RAID at all?
Try Memtest on your RAM and see if that turns up anything.

After a little research on line it appears to be a memory problem.

Install only one stick of memory into the board and load optimized defaults then try loading windows again.

Make sure you are giving them enough voltage to work right.

Tried giving them a little more volts still no go. Tried 1 stick, still no go. Tried with only my raid harddrives, still no go. This is so frustrating.

Did you try a different stick? Try another stick in each slot. I know this is frustrating but sometimes it takes a little finess to ge a board going.

As mush as i love this board, lately i have been taking advantage of the fan control options via the bios, however by doing so i have discovered an annoying high pitching whining noise coming from the motherbaord.

The noise only appears when i surf certain pages (sky sports, heavy add related sties) and even makes the noise when i put on WMP, does anyone else have this problem or now of a cure??

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

you can actually download the original bios from abit and use the "RUNME.BAT" and the "ABITFAE.BAT" to do the flashing for you automatically...all you do is edit "abitfae.bat" with the below command switches (use "SN" instead of SY if you do not want to save the original bios file installed since you might be using floppy disks)

also, edit "runme.bat" with the correct name of the bios file, ie, "M629B_11.A01".

if you want to boot off a floppy, you will need two floppy's...one for the booting to DOS and the other carries your bios file along with the award flasher...you can also have the runme.bat and abitfae.bat included on that 2nd disk to do the automatic flashing...all you have to do is type in from the "A:" prompt this syntax: RUNME.BAT (assuming you edited those two files before hand)

if you don't quite catch on what or how to do the above then you can type the commands manually to do the flashing (old way)...this procedure is more prone to mistakes (abort from flashing) since everything has to be correct in format and spacing.

    with the 2nd floppy in your "A" drive and you have the "A" prompt on the screen, you type this: A:AWDFLASH.EXE M629B_11.A01 /py /sy /WB /cd /cp /cc /CKS

remember there is one space between each file or switch annotation...there is NO space between the "A" prompt and AWDFLASH.EXE

DO NOT OVERCLOCK while flashing the bios....and...make sure you have proper voltage to your memory sticks..if your sticks require 2.0v, make sure you have that set before attempting to flash.

always a good idea to do a full format on floppy's before copying the bios files and other files to the 2nd floppy...if you have a bad sector on a floppy and do not do a full blown format, it would be a bummer that the bios file would be copied to that part of the bad sector(s) on the disk.
Do i need to edit the switches that come with abits file?
    Mine says this when i edit it: AWDFLASH.EXE %1 /py /sn /cd /cp /cc

do i need to put what you put in bold instead?

With two gigs I booted with mine, 4x1gb sticks wouldnt boot from stock but two were allright, I would try it and find out before you do anything else though just to be sure.
This board overvolts the ram a little bit also so keep that in mind.

Can't get the IP35 Pro to control my 2-pin fan under FanEQ. Try the 4-pin and all the 3-pin fan headers. Am I missing something?

So the three-pin and four-pin won't control your 2-pin fan, correct? If so I believe that's by design; IIRC the 3rd & 4th leads are what give it the 'sense' capability (RPM monitoring, temp monitoring if it has a diode, etc).

i haven't started playing with memory yet on this board but have reached 617MHz (dual 32M SPI) no problem when testing FSB and PL levels:
