x2 6000+ overclocking my new chip 3.3 ghz on stock volts and rising...

Just got my new system up and running... Asus M2n43-sli and a x2 6000+
I wanted something to hold me over till realistic quad core phenom prices come out so I figured id get a new toy to play with....

Here are the results so far...

I slowly start taking it up first 3125 on stock volts, then 3225 then what im posting at right now 3300 hz on stock volts so far...

Here are some quick preliminary results after about 10 mins of tinkering.

And here is the current settings...

Right now im running the ram at DDR 667 at 366 hz for testing purposes im not sure how far this Mushkin Extreme can be pushed. I have it at 3-3-4-10 right now and it is also on stock volts.

Not to shabby so far im gonna see how far this chip can go. I am not expecting to much based on others results but looks solid thus far.

    Excellent cpu!!!

That said, take your Vcore readings with a DMM. "Stock" Vcore on an Asus AM2 mobo may be up to a full .1 volt higher than what CPU-Z says and so, even more than .1 higher than the cpu's rated stock value.

I have it written down at home ill have to take a look. I also took some pictures of the chip and of my new water loop so Ill post those up later tonight when I get home from work.

I'll look into the vcore I know many boards misread but I didnt know about the newer ASUS boards being a full .1 off that is alot.

As of write now I left it dual priming at 3.3ghz I'll have to see how it goes and then I'll see if I can push it a bit higher later tonight.

    Thanks

now do some 32M and 3D action . Those times seem slow to me or it could be vista. I was pulling 27.xxx timings on 1M with my opteron on XP Pro untweaked. What timings for your ram. Seems like a good deal if its stable at that speed ???

Thanks for all the comments guys.... and as for that PI time you gotta remember that for one its an AMD and also its in Vista and i didnt shut down all the background services yet. It has like 50 process running normally. I gotta play with my Tweak 6 a bit....

Anyhow I left it priming while I was away at work for around 12 hours. I ran small ftt an instance on each core and it passed fine for 3.3ghz but i had to set it to 1.45 vcore it stopped at 1.42....

@Agent_God -- I think a sensor doesn't read right on my speed fan because when priming Temp3 goes up to 123c so something has to be off or the board would be melting.

After priming all day for 12 hours my Core temp load was at 42 c with my room ambient being around 25-27c.

Im trying to find something besides speed fan that works with Vista

My ram timings right now are 4-4-3-10 at around 366 hz i could get it faster but im just seeing the limits of the chip for right now.... any how here is the screen shot...

    WOW!

This CPU should be absolutely gaming stable on air at this clock. Awesome!

Yeah lets hope... I didnt get to game at all yet but all looks good so far. I took it up to 3.4 ghz into windows but it wasnt prime stable at that speed with around 1.48 vcore. Im not sure whats a safe v-core to take this chip to.

Anyhow at the moment Im 100% stable at 3300 and my ram running at 412 mhz with 4-4-3-10 timings. I am gonna try to tighten them up some more later today. I ran a 26.3 super PI with these settings which is not bad for vista but I still havent turned all the background apps off.

Amazingly I was also able to boot into windows with these Mushkin Extreme up and running all the way to 478 mhz. But I havent tested stability so far over 412.

Its a Common bug with the ASUS M2N series motherboards.

I have the same thing, Its a 3rd Sensor, I dont really know what it senses. But My Cores is at 28C and 25C right now. So I don't think a 6000+ would be at +70C

Indeed it is stock at 3ghz however running at 3 seems to be the upper ceiling for the current AMD architecture. So pushing up past that limit is where most of the current AMD chips top out windsor or brisbane.

And yeah lets hope Warboy because when its at load that temp 3 shows up at 127c which would be boiling my mobo.

    hmmm

My 5600+ Windsor is doing 3.5Ghz in windows now. Need a bit better cooling for 24/7 but I have complete confidence it will on air with a better sink. Im at 3.2ghz 24/7 at the moment on the stock Opteron heatpipe AMD cooler. Idles 27C, load (orthos) 48C.

Thats a really nice chip you must have a decent ambient in the area for the stock cooler. How much voltage does it need to hit 3.5 ghz for you.

At 3.3 ghz I am at like 26-29c idle and 41c load ... And thats on decent water cooling.. I might try to remount my new D-tek fuzion I just got to see if it improves but the ambient in that room is so high its been like 85 or so around here the last few days.

@drjay -- I have never done true Vcore testing although I do have a DMM how exactly do I go about doing so on this MOBO... if you have the info it would be great....

    hmmm

At 3.25Ghz (230Mhz x 14) it takes 1.45V (bios setting) and it needed 1.525V to be happy at 3.5Mhz (250x14) But the ram is acting weird past 230Mhz no matter what I do so it wasn't 100% at 3.5. I dont think the CPU is the issue though.

Ambient is mid-70's F around here.

Got ya... sometimes it is ram timings that really hold a chip back but its harder to diagnose since most good ocing MOBO have like 30+ ram settings.

Any how I finally broke into the 25's range In SuperPi with this chip and ram... Running ram at 418 at the moment and the Chip at 3350 with a 335 x 10 FSB just was messing around with lower multi's.... Im gonna try to go further but the chip is stable with like 1.44 volts at 3300 ghz but anything over that needs way more volts... I got it to prime 5+ hours over night and is still going at 3350 mhz.... Im going to see what it takes to get it at 3.4 ghz prime stable when I get home.

    awesome chip you got there.

I might give a 25s pi a shot this w/e now it's cooled down , mine requires much more juice than yours, about 1.58 to do 3350 stable. 1.45 only gets me 3.2-3.25 stable if kept cool

i can only managed my Brisbane 4400+ on air around 3.1GHz somehow and this windsor can scale that high, congratz pal..

    just curious what week+stepping?

Yeah I wish it was cool here it has been like 80-85 the last few days my ambient in my computer room is terrible. I need to get some fans to channel the airconditioner air from across the house.

Yeah im stable at 3.3 with bios set to 1.45 volts and it shows as 1.47 or so in monitors. I raised it up to 1.475 when I was doing the 3350 testing and it reads as 1.502 or something like that.

Do you think its better I keep the FSB cranked high to around 330+ with a lower multi or use the 15x and around 200 range? I havent found a difference benching wise so far.

Even though im stable at 3350 at the moment id like to see how far I could get this chip when I get out of work today. I need to do some more reading on my ram timings I just want to rule out that its not the limiting factor.

    Thanks tictac =)

Ill try to look up the stepping when I get home I wrote it down somewhere...
