    Just last minute q's

    Ok after some address mix-ups my coard and proc will be here friday..going with is7 -e and p4 2.4 c retail.
    1.Will i need some type of as3 or ocz to use on my intel,not wanting to go over 3g with the processor.
    2.Only got a kingston hyper x 2700 256 right now..will htat allow me to take the sys to 3 gig,got another coming next week will 2 do it if 1 won't?
    3.Is there a web page for steps to oc'ing this system?

    p.s. what does the retail come with cooling wise,a thermal adhesive pad or such..sorry thanks again

    WELCOME TO XTREME!

    The Intel Reatil processor wil lcome with thermal grease, ive built a few intel systems at work and can tell you it is definetly not good stuff, AS3 would be much betetr but as its retail, it should come with some thermal paste.

    For overclocking, you will only be able to raise the FSB (front side bus0

    sorry for not being much help but im definetly not an Intel expert.

    Hope it helps in some way/shape or form though!

    Yes you where helpful ccw,was just trying to skimp on some dollars *slaps self* there all better will pick up some as3 or ocz's paste..thanks again for the help

    Just realize that NONE of those Acceleration options (the settings that bring the 865PE on par with 875P at stock 1:1) will work with that memory. You are in essence left with a plain-jane 865PE.
