    Critique this pic...

I need some feedback on this. This is the first one of the set I have played with, seeing how things go before I do the whole batch. Also I need some feedback on the border...have been trying some different things and I think I like this better than a solid border, but still haven't settled on anything.

Looks a little bland, maybe you took too much off and put too much black in it :/

There is nothing cut out of the picture, check the size. Is the border too thick?

Sorry... that was what I meant. Yes the border is too thick, especially on the left and right side.

Personally I tried the whole border thing, and while it sometimes makes photos look better and more professional for web viewing...think about printing that out. If the pic doesn't look good w/o the border...it's a lost cause. But this is a good shot, so lose the border, when you frame it then worry about a border.

I wouldn't print anything with a border, and I don't print many of my shots anyway. Most of these are kept on my Photobucket album and will be put on a video slideshow DVD.

Most of mine are done for web viewing.

It isn't a boring picture, I think the angle at which you took the picture wasn't so great. Perhaps something farther from the ground, and more to the right so you can picture more of his face. And maybe moving the focus a little farther back so you can see his ears in the whole frame. I feel it's like taking a picture of a person, then cutting part of their head off because we are zoomed in too far.

I was trying to get the fine detail, and the zoom made it more personal...the farther back you go the more emotion you lose.

Man that is an awesome picture. The second border is cool, but a little inconsistant.

If you look at the positioning of the bars, you will see why it was framed that way. I needed his eyes between them for a good shot. I thought it was the best I could do

I could have zoomed out a bit, but the bars become more visible and less detail is seen from the subject...its all a compromise.
