My little Q6600 G0 get BLITZed on the Mini-Cascade

Although the mini-cascade is not calibrate to Quad's (drops to less than -70ºC on load ) the results are not to bad for a Retail Q6600 that cost me around 260 Euro .

The motherboard used was Asus Blitz Formula - this mobo make wish to try again the ATI's for some some Crossfire action, but I must control myself because this hobby is becoming really expensive

    Here are some results:

    First 4 simultaneous SuperPI's on Core 0, 1, 2, 3 :

And now the 4 Core CineBench:

I have my doubts but it pass 3DMark2006 CPU test at 4.600Mhz - the mini-cascade really suffer on this test

And finally my favorite game, with very low 8800ultra clocks and the PCie at default 100mhz

Tomorrow I will try to recalibrate the mini-cascade and may show you more Q6600 G0 BLITZed on the Mini-Cascade

I realy like the G0's and seems that the day when my retail QX6850 never arrive

Nice chip and board, and the clocks with that mini-cascade is very good IMO.

    A few more benchs.

    82.291 MIPS

    Full 3Mark 2006 with 8800Ultra low clocks

And PCMark 2005 just for curiosity (I'm not a big fan) :

I think is 5th place in the PCMark2005, but I forget to usel WHQ Futuremark approved (no idea PCMark requires it) so have to re-run to submit

Seems Win Vista give better result in PCMark

Anyway not bad for a low cost QuadCore..

Unfortunately they're very very weak in your favorite game though.

The Asus Blitz Formula is quite nice and should rock with 2 ATI's thanks to Crosslink feature

Well better think twice before "jump" to DFI wagon - I bought one DFI 680i UT SLI and now DFI does not make any new Bios availabe for that board since May 2007, today I tested this 6600 G0 with the DFI 680i and the results was quite joke:
    - Last oficial bios (from 2007/05/21) does not even recognize Q660 G0 correclty
    - Last beta bios (N5FD723 from 2007/07/23) is a complete disaster with the Q6600 G0, the board dont even boot most of the times.
I dunno what will happen with DFI P35 TR bios updates and support, but if it is the same that happend with DFI 680i, it is better stay way specially for G0's

The problem is not the Nvidia 680i chipset, in fact the Q6600 G0's works very well with a EVGA with a P30 bios, I did 4.100 4core superpi's benchable Air Cooled with a this Q6600 - you can check more in my thread here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=154758

Pedro, if you don't mind me asking, Blitz isnt retail yet is it? Cause I see it around shops but out of stock.

Also, since I know that you have worked with both boards, do you perfer Blitz or P5K series?

Blitz it's on sales here in Portugal and in most of European countries.

Regarding the choice of boards, here is my opinon:
    - P5K Premium (avoid the Deluxe since it had serious heat problems on PWM) may be the better motherbord for 24/7 use with Air/Water Cooling;
    - Blitz Formula its the board of choice for more extreme overclockers (phase or DI/LN2) since it have more voltages options and a better layout.

For ATI owners that wish CF, the Crosslink feature in the Blitz may decide in favour of the Blitz, I didnt try CF with new 2900XT but I would like to ..

Pedro: Excellent times on cinebench..9sec and 2425 for a quad is excellent.
I'm just a little ahead of that but using 8 cores..

    Nice Q6600 Pedro

Turn up the PCIe and clocks

I'll have one to play with early next week. Gonna give it the full treatment and see where it tops out FSB wise on P35.

Heres is a few updates with Q6600 G0 on the Mini-cascade, give it a litle more PLL voltage to achieve higger FSB...

    4 Cores Superpi benchable at 4.750Mhz - 528 FSB

As you can see in the Everest QuadCore Bench is very near 100% overclock

And finally it runs 3Dmark2006 at 4.650Mhz - here it is with a full stock single 8800..

Contrarily to the QX6850, the temperatures of Q6600 are still acceptable in mini-cascade - to bad I can not run SLI with these FSB speeds - maybe with X38 mobos
